Thank you for coming out to hear more about the new programming of Yellow House Theatre, sharing time with peers within the arts community of Lubbock, and joining us in honoring our 35 year history.

Again, a special thank you to Mayor McBrayer and the City Council for spending time with us and presenting a Special Recognition to declare May 2025 to be Yellow House Theatre Month in Lubbock!

We'll have more Community Coffee events coming up, and we're close to launching more classes and workshops - so be on the lookout!

In celebration of our upcoming WICKED Sing-Along, we're hosting a special fundraiser event—selling beautiful ballgowns from our costuming inventory! Whether you’re looking for a costume, a show-stopping outfit, or just love a good deal, these gorgeous gowns are perfect for any occasion.

Want to support even more? You can donate gowns to be sold! Drop them off between 2 and 4 PM each day this week.

Lubbock's Community Theatre Receives $40,000 Grant

We are proud to share that Yellow House Theatre of Lubbock has received a $40,000 grant from the Rea Charitable Trust in Midland, Texas—a powerful vote of confidence in our mission and impact. This vital support will help us expand our innovative programs, including scholarships within our educational programs, equip our Apprentices mentor program, and develop community-driven productions that teach life skills and foster creativity for all ages.

Thank you for being part of our journey — together, we’re building accessible theatre experiences within our community and continue to foster a vibrant artistic future for Lubbock.

Exciting News: Registration is Now Open for Our Summer Camps! 🌞

Join us for an unforgettable summer at Yellow House Theatre! We’re thrilled to offer a variety of engaging camps designed for young artists in Lubbock:

● Devisement Workshop (June 16-27, ages 12-17): Dive into the art of creating an original theatrical performance as you collaborate with experienced instructors to write and develop a unique piece. This immersive workshop culminates in a production that will be showcased during the summer's ongoing camps, allowing you to see your creativity come to life on stage!

● Playacting Intensive Camp (July 14-25, ages 8-17): Transform a devised play into a fully realized production, working closely with peers and mentors to develop your theatrical skills while shining on stage!

● Apprentice Intensive (July 14-25, ages 8-17): Take a deep dive into theatre production and discover the behind-the-scenes skills that make performances come to life as you work closely with experienced mentors in an immersive, hands-on learning environment!

● Production Camp: Week I (July 14-18, ages 8-17): Curious about theatre but don’t know where to start? Join us for hands-on activities that introduce essential skills in a supportive environment, while collaborating with peers to bring your creative ideas to life!

● Production Camp: Week II (July 21-25, ages 8-17): Join us for Week I - or Week II - or both! This is a great opportunity to have fun and explore your passions!

Announcing the launch of our next chapter as Yellow House Theatre! We’re introducing fresh programming designed to bring the arts closer to you and celebrate creativity in all its forms. While we remain Lubbock Community Theatre, this brand transformation underscores our dedication to fostering community connections through accessible, engaging arts programs that inspire and enrich all members of the Lubbock community.

Fully staged productions are excellent platforms for showcasing the amazing enrichment theatre provides, but their demanding nature can also greatly limit who can participate from our community. To foster greater inclusivity and invite more members of our community to explore the creative and collaborative benefits of theatre, we’ve developed a thorough range of accessible programs - including workshops, intensives, single-session classes, and new outreach initiatives, offering diverse opportunities to engage with various artistic disciplines. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has the chance to grow and thrive through the arts!

To kick off this exciting evolution, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind celebration! Join us for WICKED: A Sing-Along Event at Buddy Holly Hall. 🎶 It’s a night of music, magic, and community, and the best part? Tickets are free! Accessibility is at the heart of this event because we believe everyone should have the chance to celebrate the joy of theatre. While we’re fundraising to support our innovative programs, this evening is about bringing people together to honor the power of the arts.
