🎃 While most kids are getting ready for a weekend full of Halloween fun and the start of the holiday season, there are more than 700 children across the South Plains who may not get to experience any of that. 🙏

Many children in foster care miss out on the simple joys of childhood. Dressing up, carving pumpkins, or celebrating the holidays with family.

These children need someone to show up. Someone to remind them what stability, kindness, and consistency look like. 💙

They need a CASA Volunteer. And that someone could be you.

Join us in celebrating our amazing Director of Initiatives, Johanna Belford! 🎉
Johanna’s journey with CASA began when she served as a dedicated CASA Volunteer. Her passion for our mission and her heart for children in foster care inspired her to join our staff in 2023, and we’ve been so lucky to have her ever since! 💙

Johanna is kind, caring, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Through her leadership with our Collaborative Family Engagement Initiative and Anti-Trafficking Initiative, she has brought incredible insight, compassion, and dedication to the work we do every day.

Her ability to connect with others and her deep commitment to improving outcomes for children and families have truly added so much value to CASA.

🌟 October Advocate of the Month 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Abby Eberle, our October Advocate of the Month! 🎉
Abby has been a constant source of support and encouragement for her first CASA case. From day one, she has shown compassion, consistency, and heart in her advocacy.

Even though Abby was assigned to the case midway through, her dedication and involvement make it feel as though she’s been there from the very beginning. She has done an amazing job building strong relationships with both her placement and her two CASA kiddos, always going the extra mile, quite literally, as she faithfully travels about two hours to visit them in person. 💙

With her case soon closing in a related adoption, placement has shared glowing praise about how helpful, steady, and dependable Abby has been throughout the process.

Abby, thank you for your hard work, your time, and your unwavering dedication to your CASA kiddos. Your advocacy truly makes a difference!

💙 Every Child Deserves a Voice 💙

Every day in our community, children enter the foster care system through no fault of their own. They face uncertainty, fear, and countless changes that they shouldn’t face alone.

That’s where CASA comes in.
CASA Volunteers stand by these children when they feel all alone. They are a consistent voice, a steady presence, and a fierce advocate for their best interests. They make sure every child knows they matter.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, permanent, and loving home.

As we enter the holiday season, we’re inviting our community to join us in bringing a little extra light and joy to these children through our Gift Card Drive. These gift cards allow our Advocates to meet real, immediate needs. Whether that be warm clothes, school supplies, or even special holiday treats that remind these children they are seen and cared for.

To donate a gift card, contact our office at 806.763.2272 to schedule a time to drop it off. Or you can mail it to CASA of the South Plains at 4601 S Loop 289, Suite 25, Lubbock, TX 79424.

‼️ PARK WITH CASA TODAY for $15‼️

If you’re heading to The Jones today for Texas Tech’s Homecoming game against Kansas University, come park with us! We’re just a short walk from the stadium, and every dollar raised helps children in foster care. We’ll be at First Christian Church (2323 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401) starting at 3:30 p.m. Spots are $15 and fill up fast, so get there early!

CASA of the South Plains just celebrated our fourth Swearing-In Session of 2025, and we are so proud to welcome another incredible group of Volunteer Advocates! 💙

Katherine also worked to make sure their mom had the support and services she needed to successfully reunify with her kids. 💙 Her commitment to the entire family highlights the heart of CASA’s mission and the incredible difference one advocate can make.

One of Katherine’s CASA kiddos once noticed they shared a scar on their hands and said, “You’re like me, we really are besties.” Moments like this show the true power of connection that Katherine brings to her advocacy.

About CASA of the South Plains

The Challenge Each year, the state of Texas removes thousands of children from their homes because of abuse and neglect. These victimized children are often drawn into a complex system of social workers, foster homes, and service providers that is overburdened and hard pressed to address their individual needs. They may also be forced to endure the experience of being separated from their siblings and moved from foster home to foster home.

The Solution CASA of the South Plains empowers community members to serve as Volunteer Advocates who speak for the well-being of children in the foster care system. CASA Volunteers are community members just like you who ensure a child’s needs remain a priority in an over-burdened child welfare system while working to find safe, permanent homes for these most vulnerable children.
