Lubbock Caprock AMBUCS

We meet for lunch on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Visitors are welcome!

The Caprock AMBUCS was started over 65 years ago to help people with disabilities have independent mobility. The 2nd oldest club in Lubbock joins with the Downtown ABC and Monterey clubs in accomplishing this mission, Caprock using the Caprock Classic basketball tournament around the Christmas time to fund over 12 local charities, provide scholarships to physical and occupational therapists, ramp building and basketball tournament scholarships.

A big thank you to Matt Moreland for joining us and sharing his knowledge and insight on what’s coming to Lubbock, what’s not, and what we can expect as our community continues to grow. We appreciate you spending your time with us, Matt!

We also had the privilege of presenting TWO Amtrykes today to Riley and Devenea! ❤️ These Amtrykes will help build strength, encourage mobility, and give them more opportunities to move and explore independently.

We had the privilege of presenting an Amtryke to our friend, Lorenzo, and hearing from State Representative Carl Tepper, who shared a great message on leadership with our club.

Thank you again to Jamie Ward and Nedra Hotchkins with the Lubbock Children's Health Clinic for joining us last week and sharing more about the work they’re doing in our community!

We also had the chance to give two Amtrykes to our new friends, Saegan and Mateo. We loved getting to be part of such a special day for both of them!

Join us this Thursday! Caprock AMBUCS meets Thursday, August 6, at 12:00 PM at The Plaza on Milwaukee.

This week's speakers are Jamie Ward and Nedra Hotchkins from the Lubbock Children's Health Clinic, where they'll share about the clinic's mission and the impact it's making for children and families across the South Plains.

We'll also celebrate two Amtryke presentations. We hope to see you there!

It was great having our Ambucs Southwest Region Director, Amanda Storer, join us and share updates from around the region and what's happening at the national level with National AMBUCS.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate the 2024–25 National Award for Program Giving Ambility, a recognition of the impact our chapter continues to make through service and mobility.

Thank you, Amanda, for your leadership and for keeping us connected to the bigger AMBUCS mission!
