Join the Silent Wings Museum as we commemorate the anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. D-Day reminds us to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the Glider Pilots who flew unarmed gliders into landing zones deep into enemy territory as seaborne troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. We honor the men who flew these missions and the men they carried into the combat zones on that fateful day.

- Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7, 2026

View vintage aircraft and learn how Glider Pilots were honored for their role in this historic event. Dive into the unique story of the CG-4A glider and the men who flew this unique aircraft into combat.

We are pleased to support LHUCA and the Flatland Film Festival through the Cultural Arts Grant Program that we administer for the City of Lubbock!

Submissions are now open for the 23rd annual Flatland Film Festival! 🎞️🍿

The festival will take place from September 24-26 this fall in the Firehouse Theater.

We’re accepting short films of all genres, plus feature films highlighting stories from Texas and the Southwest. Check out a couple important submission dates below! ⬇️

Early bird deadline: May 25, 2026
Final Entry deadline: June 30, 2026
