Happy International Caracal Day! We love all small cats and are always excited to highlight one of the lesser-known species.
Caracal populations are distributed throughout Africa and up into Central Asia! Their solid coats allow them to utilize more open space terrains like savannahs and semi-deserts. They also have the ability to jump upwards of 12ft in the air!

Happy 4th Birthday to one of our resident fishing cats, Minley!
Minley was born here to our pair, Minnow and Finley. He loves getting snacks, splashing in his pool, and attention from his favorite care takers!
Of course, we had to spoil him today with all his favorite things. Come by and wish him a Happy Birthday on a guided tour, bookable online at pantherridge.org

Bruce is most comfortable when he can get an aerial view of his surroundings. His habitat has been designed with that in mind with high perches and dens, climbing logs and a treehouse.

Clouded leopards are heavily threatened in the wild due to deforestation and poaching.

By supporting Panther Ridge and joining us on a tour to learn more about these amazing species, you help us provide a voice for Bruce and the wild clouded leopard population, ensuring that this historic species doesn’t disappear forever

Pearl wants to remind everyone to stay cool!

Located in Florida, we are no strangers to the heat. We are always working to make sure our cats stay cool and comfortable during the warmer months. All of our enclosures are equipped with fans, ensuring there is a breezy spot for a nice nap. Pools, ice bowls, and additional fans are also distributed around the center depending on their preferences!

Do you know what your favorite feline sounds like?

The vocal ranges of these species is astounding; although you’ll never hear a purr from any of these individuals due to specialized anatomy. Their anatomy- specifically a partially ossified, flexible hyoid bone, allows them to produce powerful, low-frequency roars but restricts their ability to produce the continuous, resonant vibration of a true purr.

Onyx is the perfect ambassador for Endangered Species Day since today is all about raising awareness and taking action. As a jaguar, Onyx represents a species that has been extirpated from much of its historic range. While their wild population is still declining, they would have minuscule numbers should conservation recovery efforts not have supported them. Jaguars are not the only species that relies on our help, but one of many, including all of the species housed at our center. Take time to learn more about how you can help endangered species today.
