UPDATE 3/12: Per a new post on TAH’s page, the rescue ended up making the ONLY responsible decision and humanely euthanized Sarge today despite it always being a gut wrenching decision made even more difficult by the incredibly ignorant portion of the public who’ve never dealt with a truly dangerous dog. This decision will provoke a new wave of harrassment for the organization and, while that’s awful, the right thing was done for the safety of others and Sarge. In my opinion, I think members of the rescue should research their state’s self defense laws, take pictures and videos of those following people home and destroying property, have the police on speed dial and make a report every single time needed, contact a lawyer, take screenshots and post said screenshots and pictures of every person who makes a death threat, and maybe even contact the FBI with proof of the death threats. THREATENING TO END SOMEONE’S LIFE BECAUSE YOU DON’T AGREE WITH SOMETHING THEY SAY OR DO IS INSANE AND YOU SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ABHORRENT BEHAVIOR.
Good morning PDP supporters,
This right here is the definition of an irresponsible rescue. The fact that we had to make the gut wrenching decision to euthanize for behavior in the past is one reason why we were a responsible rescue. A dog as DANGEROUS as Sarge, who seriously maimed someone unprovoked causing that person to need 👉3👈 surgeries to essentially put her face back together, should be humanely euthanized immediately. She will always have physical and mental scars. That’s aside from the fact that HE is suffering mentally because a mentally stable dog does not do this. Throwing the possibility of rabies is the rescue’s attempt to justify what happened. This dog doesn’t have rabies. The organization pulled him from the shelter right before he was euthanized knowing he was a serious behavior concern. The Animal Haven has caved to the pressure, threats (which I understand is scary), and negative publicity from bleeding hearts who’ve obviously never dealt with a truly dangerous dog and has made the decision not to euthanize Sarge. To even consider moving Sarge to another organization does not absolve TAH from responsibility WHEN he seriously injures again or kills someone or something because he will. Any organization that has offered to take this dog is just as irresponsible. The blood of whoever he maims or kills in the future will be on their hands.
The Animal Haven, do the LOGICAL, ETHICAL, and RESPONSIBLE thing as a rescue and euthanize Sarge. Stop “listening to the “community,” because the “community” you’re listening to are ignorant bleeding hearts who’ve never been responsible for a truly dangerous dog and are only thinking with emotions not logic. We did the right thing for the dog and community by making the decision to behaviorally euthanize because we ran a responsible rescue. As a bully breed focused rescue, we understood the responsibility of changing the public perception of them. What you’re doing with Sarge only furthers the negative stereotype we worked so hard to break.
