As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reminded that awareness was never meant to end with a calendar month.

It is an invitation.

To see children beyond statistics.
To understand the deeper realities behind family separation.
To move beyond sympathy toward prevention, support, restoration, and advocacy.

Because every child deserves more than survival.

They deserve safety.
They deserve belonging.
They deserve the opportunity to grow within loving, supportive relationships.

At Identity Mission, this work continues long after May — strengthening families, supporting foster care, and equipping communities to help children thrive in family environments.

Thank you for learning, sharing, praying, and walking alongside this mission with us.

The conversation doesn’t end here.

As we wrap up Foster Care Awareness Month, here’s what we hope stays with us:

Awareness is not only about foster care.

It’s about families.
Prevention.
Healing.
Community responsibility.
And the belief that children belong in families whenever safely possible.

Behind every child is a bigger story — and meaningful care asks us to respond with dignity, wisdom, and long-term support.

May may be ending, but the work of strengthening families and creating spaces of belonging continues.

Thank you for being part of the conversation this month.

There are many misconceptions about foster care.
That children only need shelter.
That foster parents must be perfect.
That institutions are easier.
That change is impossible.
That foster care replaces biological families.

But understanding changes how we respond.
Children need attachment, stability, healing, safe relationships, and consistent care.
Healthy foster care is not about replacing families.

It is about protecting children while working toward restoration whenever safely possible.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we invite you to move beyond assumptions and into understanding.

Because awareness is not just knowing foster care exists.
It is learning what children truly need.

Save, share, and help others rethink foster care.

Behind every foster care story is not a “perfect family.”
There are real people learning, adapting, praying, showing grace,
and choosing to care well.

Because foster care is not only about opening a home.
It is about creating a community of support around children and the families who care for them.

Not everyone is in a season to welcome a child into their home.
But many of us can still be available to help those who do.
Sometimes support looks like:

• praying for foster families
• encouraging caregivers
• providing meals or practical help
• offering friendship and community
• helping meet tangible needs
• standing alongside families caring for vulnerable children

And in the middle of that support, children encounter something powerful:
a family environment where healing, stability, and belonging can begin to grow.
This Foster Care Awareness Month, would you join us?

Pray for foster families.
Support those saying “yes.”

Help strengthen the community around vulnerable children.
Because caring for children was never meant to be done alone.

Foster Care Awareness Month is not just about foster care.
It is about rethinking how we care for vulnerable children.
Because many children don’t need institutional care.

They need support.
Support for families.
Support for caregivers.
Support before crisis becomes separation.

And when children cannot safely remain at home, they deserve the love, stability, and connection of a family.

At Identity Mission, we believe children belong in families whenever safely possible.
That’s why our work includes Family Preservation, Foster Care, and Church Development.

Every child deserves dignity.
Every family deserves support.
Every community has a role to play.

Learn. Share. Advocate.

This month, Identity Mission and CreServ partnered to provide Jugando Nos Fortalecemos, a child sexual abuse prevention workshop for PRODIM.

Facilitated by Keyrin Rivas and Abel Japas, both social workers and workshop facilitators, this three-session training equipped participants with practical tools, activities, and knowledge for working with children and adolescents.

Throughout the workshop, participants explored topics such as prevention, violence against children and adolescents, emotions, risk and protective factors, and practical methodologies that can be applied directly within their own programs and communities.

Designed as a highly participatory process, the training combined theory, reflection, and hands-on practice, creating space for learning, discussion, and skill-building around child protection.

We are thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with organizations committed to strengthening their work with children and youth, and for the continued partnerships that make spaces like these possible.

Every child deserves more than survival.
They deserve stability, care, guidance, and the opportunity to grow in a safe and loving family. 🤍

Children in foster care often face uncertainty, loss, and constant change. But through caring families and supportive communities, healing and hope become possible.

At Identity Mission, we believe family-based care changes lives. Through foster care, family preservation, and community support, we work to help children remain connected to safe, loving relationships and brighter futures.
You can be part of that story.

Whether through prayer, advocacy, giving, fostering, or simply learning more, your support helps create opportunities for children and families in Honduras to thrive.

This month, Pastor Fernando took the initiative to gather churches in his community—bringing people together with one shared heart: caring for vulnerable children and families. 🤍

Because of his leadership, churches are now stepping into training and learning how to walk alongside families with support, encouragement, and practical care.
This is the vision we believe in:

The Church being part of the solution.
Not one church working alone, but communities coming together to preserve families, strengthen homes, and remind parents and children that they are not alone.
Please continue praying for this project as we work to expand these efforts into more communities across Honduras.

Pray for more churches to say yes, for more families to be reached, and for the provision needed to grow this program through additional staff, training, and support systems.

We truly believe lasting change happens when the Church and the community walk together.

And you can be part of that solution too.

Your church can be part of the solution. 🤍
There are so many ways churches, families, and small groups can help support vulnerable children and strengthen families in Honduras through Identity Mission.
Host Orphan Sunday / Pure Religion Sunday

Use a Sunday service to help your church better understand biblical family care, foster care, and family preservation. We would love to help provide resources, stories, and ways your community can get involved.

Bring a mission team
Whether it’s a family trip, internship, church group, or outreach team, mission trips create opportunities to serve alongside local communities, learn from Honduran families, and support ongoing ministry efforts in ethical and relationship-centered ways.

Sponsor trainings for pastors and leaders
Healthy churches can become safe places for vulnerable children and families. Through church development and family preservation trainings, local leaders are equipped to better support families in crisis and strengthen their communities long-term.

Pray consistently for families in Honduras
Prayer matters deeply. Pray for restoration, healing, provision, wisdom for caregivers, encouragement for foster families, and protection for children at risk of separation.
If your church, family, or small group would like to learn more about partnership opportunities, mission trips, or how to get involved, we would love to connect with you.

What if your dinner table could become a place of impact? 🤍
Dinner Party in a Box was created to help people share the heart of Identity Mission in a simple, personal, and meaningful way.

Invite friends, family, your church group, or neighbors over for dinner and conversation. Inside each box, you’ll find recipes, discussion cards, cultural pieces from Honduras, and resources designed to help people better understand family preservation, foster care, and the work being done through Identity Mission.
You do not need to be an expert to make a difference.

Sometimes impact simply begins by opening your home and starting a conversation.
Through one dinner gathering, more people can become aware, connected, and inspired to support vulnerable children and families in Honduras.
