Lewis County Hospital Foundation Launches "$95 for 95 Years" Campaign to Celebrate Lewis County General Hospital's 95th Anniversary

The Lewis County Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its "$95 for 95 Years" campaign, a fundraising initiative celebrating the 95th anniversary of Lewis County General Hospital.
Since opening on August 4, 1931, Lewis County General Hospital has been more than a hospital, it has been an essential part of the Lewis County community. For 95 years, generations of families have relied on the hospital during life's happiest celebrations, greatest challenges, and everything in between. From the birth of a child and lifesaving emergency care to surgery, rehabilitation, and compassionate end-of-life care, the hospital has been there for our community members when it matters most. As part of the Lewis County Health System, that legacy of high-quality healthcare continues today, providing patients and families with exceptional care close to home.

The Foundation is inviting community members, former patients, employees, families, and friends to commemorate this milestone by making a $95 donation in honor of the hospital's 95 years of service. The $95 for 95 Years Campaign is an opportunity for our community to celebrate the legacy of the hospital, while investing in its future. Donors are encouraged to make a gift of $95, but contributions of any amount are welcome. Funds raised through the campaign will enhance healthcare services for the residents of Lewis County and the surrounding area.

The campaign will continue for 95 days, culminating on the evening of the Hospital Foundation Gala on November 7, the annual celebration of our community hospital.

Lewis County Health System is pleased to announce that Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Carolyn M. Hettrich, M.D, MPH, will join the medical staff in September 2026. Dr. Hettrich will see patients at Lewis County Orthopedics, located on the main hospital campus, 7785 North State Street, in Lowville.

Dr. Hettrich is the highest-volume shoulder replacement surgeon in the area, doing custom shoulder replacements. She treats the majority of shoulder, elbow, and knee conditions and uses the most innovative arthroscopic and minimally invasive techniques for:

* Arthroscopic shoulder surgery (rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization/labrum repair
* Shoulder replacement (revision and primary, using custom guides and/or implants for each patient)
* Open shoulder surgery (shoulder stabilization, massive rotator cuff repairs, and muscle transfers)
* Elbow arthroscopy/ligament reconstruction (Tommy John surgery)/tendon repair
* Surgery for the disorders of the scapula (shoulder blade)
* Proximal humerus, clavicle, and scapula fractures
* ACL repairs and reconstruction (the latest techniques for ACL repair)
* Meniscus surgery
