Upon entering the memorial service, you were welcomed by tables of flowers & paintings, so many colors and variety. The paintings were done by Kathleen Merrick, Volunteer Coordinator at LCHS & Hospice. I chose two cards to take with me for a reflection of the evening, a yellow rose and a pink carnation. The rose relates upon friendship while the carnation is remembrance. Hospice staff, volunteers, and board members of Friends of Lewis County Hospice each chose a flower and during the memorial service the flowers were gathered in a vase, sharing we are all different, all beautiful, and we all make a difference.

Last Wednesday, Lewis County Hospice held their Memorial Service at Abundant Life Fellowship in Lowville. The service was a reflection of the lives of fifty seven individuals with beauty & grace. Rachael Golas, the Hospice Social Worker & Bereavement Coordinator, spoke passionately on the role of Hospice and the importance of family. Opening prayer was given by the Hospice Volunteer Chaplin, Evan Zehr and the Hospice RN, Cierra McGrath, honored the memorialized individuals with a poem, Honoring a Life Well Lived. A heartfelt thank you from our FOLCH Board to everyone who helped make the 2026 Friends of Lewis County Hospice Epicurean such a tremendous success. We extend special appreciation to Tug Hill Estates for hosting the event, to our corporate sponsors—the Lewis County Health System and the Northern New York Community Foundation—and to all of our additional sponsors and patrons.

We are beyond grateful to everyone who attended, donated raffle and silent auction items, and contributed the delicious desserts enjoyed by all. The remarkable success of this event reflects the generosity, dedication, and caring spirit of this community, as well as the support of those beyond our area.
