💌 A Message to Our Trinity Family and Friends,

Well-meaning friends sometimes say, “Stay the way you are.”

Usually, it is meant as an encouragement...a compliment about someone’s personality. But if we stay as we are, we will never grow into what God has planned for us.

In church, we often say, “Come as you are, but do not stay as you were.” That is the heart of Christian transformation and change. As we spend time in God’s presence, study the Word, worship with His people, and walk in obedience, the Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out.

The Christian life is not about standing still but it is about becoming more like Christ each day.

Scripture reminds us:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2

Wherever you are in your faith journey today, come to the Lord. Come honestly and expecting His plan in your life

We invite you to join us at Trinity as we grow together in following Jesus and becoming more like Christ.

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was established by General John Logan in 1868 to honor Civil War soldiers. The inaugural observance involved adorning the graves of soldiers from both the Union and Confederacy at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Post-World War I, the day expanded to commemorate all soldiers who died in service, honoring their "ultimate sacrifice" for this country.

May we never forget.

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

Years ago, I heard a story about a talented actor. He traveled throughout the USA, drawing large crowds from his public readings of Shakespeare and other classic works. Yet, he would always end his performance with a dramatic reading of Psalm 23. On one occasion, he gave an outstanding performance. With the right inflection and tone, he kept the audience on the edge of their seats. When he finished, the crowd rose and gave him a long standing ovation. When the applause ended, an older man walked slowly down the aisle to the stage. The audience recognized him, for he had been a retired preacher in the community. He walked over to the actor and said,

"That was beautiful, would you let me recite Psalm 23, too?"

The actor obliged. The older man, with a voice that had weakened through the years, and did not have all the crescendos of inflection that the actor used, began to say,

"the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..."

and he continued until the end as he closed with the words...

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

You could have heard a pin drop. Many in the audience wiped away tears from their eyes. Finally, the actor walked over to the man and said,

"When I gave Psalm 23, it concluded with cheers, but when you shared the beloved Psalm 23, there was absolute silence. A holy hush. What was the difference?"

The fellow said,

"You know the Psalm, but I know the Shepherd. He has been with me all these years, through sickness and in health. And soon I will see Him, face-to-face. He is everything, He is my Shepherd."

I am praying for you that you will keep Christ close to your heart this coming spring and summer of 2026. May we join in remembering, we will all make it together at Trinity, as we trust in Christ, our Shepherd…every day!

Here is the schedule of events for the next few days at Trinity United Christian Church.

4. This Week in Worship: The Ascension,
The Unsung Moment of Jesus' Life on Earth
Today is Ascension Day for the Church. Acts 1:3 tells that Jesus met with His disciples 40 days after His Resurrection and instructed them to wait for the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8)...then He ascended to the right hand of the Father (Acts 1:10-11). Two men in blazing apparel said to the disciples that the same way they saw Him go, He will return in the same manner.

Are you ready for His coming? Christians have waited for years, and every day is one day closer. The Holy Spirit is ready to fill you for service until Christ comes. Read Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:3-11 to prepare for worship.

05/08/2026

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

I recently heard an explanation about road rage that stuck with me. When we first learn to drive, we are careful because we understand the responsibility. Over time, however, we become comfortable, but beneath our calm self is tension. Look, all around you!! You are surrounded by fast-moving vehicles and large trucks. Our minds stay on edge without realizing it.

Sometimes, when something goes wrong, like a close call or even an animal on the road, our tension rises. What seems like something minor becomes a ball of stress. Our subtle fears meet our frustrations, and we become reactive.

Well, in life there are moments when we carry unseen stress, worry and fear. Then a small event disrupts our day and our response system overreacts.

This is where the Holy Spirit steps in...the Spirit reveals what is underneath the hood of our hearts. God brings hidden fears into the light to heal us. Just as Jesus meets us with grace, the Holy Spirit helps us pause and respond in the way the Lord would desire. Jesus invites us to bring every anxiety, hidden fear, and overwhelming emotions to His holy presence.

When you take time to be still before the Lord (Psalm 46:10) something shifts. The heart softens and the Spirit restores. Today, allow the Holy Spirit to guide, and remind you that you are not alone.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

05/01/2026

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

The NFL Draft in Pittsburgh has come and gone, leaving us with the excitement of the event. Dreams were realized as names were called. Plus, Steelers fans watched with expectation, wondering who the next up and coming star on the team would be.

At its core, the draft is about calling. Each player reached that moment through discipline and sacrifice. When their name was spoken, it reflected purpose, and a plan set in motion.

Scripture reminds us that God also calls His people:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart…” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Like those athletes, we are not overlooked or forgotten. God calls your name—not for applause, but into a life of purpose for His glory. Yet there is a difference, I believe. The draft selects only a few from many, but God’s call is extended to all who are willing to repent (2 Peter 3:9). You do not have to earn a place on the “team.” Through Christ, you are chosen and invited into the Lord’s purpose.

So, the next time you hear about draft day, let it be more than a sports headline. May it remind you that you have been called—not by a commissioner on a stage, but by the Lord and Savior who knows your name.

💌 A Message to Our Trinity Family and Friends

Do you remember the old song?

Zacchaeus was a wee little man,
And a wee little man was he,
He climbed up in a sycamore tree
For the Lord he wanted to see...

Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was, so he climbed a sycamore tree. When Jesus passed by, He looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” (Luke 19:5)

Even among large crowds, Jesus saw individuals. He had what some call “people eyes”—the ability to notice others, understand their needs, and truly focus on them.

This week, wherever you are—church, work, home, or out in the community—ask Christ to give you people eyes. Notice those around you, especially those you may not know well. Ask the Lord to place one “Zacchaeus” in your path at each gathering, and trust the Lord to work through you.

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

Colossians 3:12
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

As followers of Christ, we are invited to “put on” compassion every day—like a garment that covers our heart, attitude, and actions. Compassion is not a shallow sympathy, but it is a deep, abiding care for people that draws us to roll up our sleeves and become involved in their pain. At its core, compassion means “to suffer with.” Compassion is the willingness to step into someone else’s struggle, to sit beside them, and remain present even when life is hard.

True compassion does not stand at a distance…no, compassion moves closer. It listens. It stays. It reflects the heart of Jesus, who entered our brokenness and carried our burdens. Christ does not turn away from our pain—He meets us in trials and tribulations.

Because we have received this kind of compassion from Jesus, we are called to extend this care to others. God has already equipped you to have a listening ear, a Spirit-filled presence, and a willing heart. These simple acts of faith in action can bring light into someone’s darkest moment.

Compassion is a daily choice. Today, say “I chose to ‘put on’ compassion” as the apostle Paul wrote in Colossians. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to those who need God’s love, and trust Jesus to work through you.

Trinity, as we have chosen to become a Mission-Minded Church, let us go and be the compassion someone needs today.

2. This Week in Worship, The Sower Sows the Word
Remember Johnny Appleseed? He was a real person but his name was John Chapman who lived from September 26, 1774 to March 18, 1845. He became a folk hero in American history, especially Pennsylvania and Ohio. We see him in our minds throwing seeds here and there, but his work was more organized. He created orchards and grew a number of apple trees with care and good conservation >>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Appleseed

In the parable of the sower, we read that Jesus tells his disciples a parable (a story) about how God's word is spread...like a seed. However, the parable relates that there are several ways the seed can be choked or destroyed before it becomes a full grown plant. We, too, are asked to spread the Gospel message to all within the sound of our voice...like a seed.

Trinity, in our quest to become a Mission-Minded Church we must recognize that our seeds of the Gospel may fall on several types of people. Yet, in the end, it is God who grows the seed and produces the harvest (1 Corinthians 3:6). Our part is to plant and share the seed of Christ. We will share practical ways this weekend to become a Mission-Minded Church and share the message of Christ with everyone we meet. Read Luke 8:4-15 to prepare for worship.

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:10).

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Today, remember that you are created by God with purpose, and called to live a life that reflects His love. One of the powerful ways to step into that calling is simple…care for people with genuine enthusiasm, especially your brothers and sisters in Christ. Scripture teaches us to love all people, but it also calls us to walk the extra mile for others (Matthew 5:41). There is something special about the way we care for one another within the body of Christ—it strengthens faith, builds unity, and reveals Jesus to your spheres of influence.

You are a child of the covenant, a joint-heir with Christ (Romans 8:17). And why are you blessed? So that you can be a blessing.

Be intentional. Care deeply. Speak life into someone’s heart. Offer encouragement. Pray with someone. Truly listen. Give generously. Comfort those who are hurting. But to do this well, you must be willing to slow down. A hurried life cannot produce unhurried love. If you want to walk with Jesus, you must walk at His pace. Jesus was never in a rush, yet He was always present. He saw people. He stopped for them. He cared fully. So create margin in your life—space to notice, to care, to respond.

As you leave this e-note, choose forgiveness. Do not allow small moments to steal your peace. A long line at the store, a driver cutting you off—these only become heavy if you carry them. Instead, release them. Allow the Holy Spirit to soften your heart and help you freely forgive.

Walk in grace. Walk in step with Jesus.

3. This Week in Worship, Honest Doubts Can Lead to Faith
Have you ever traveled to another state and run across someone you know but were not expecting to see? It has happened to me a few times and as much as I am shocked to see that person...I am certain many of Jesus' disciples were shocked to see the Lord again! They heard reports of His resurrection but were skeptical. In this week's message the scripture reveals that Jesus appears to Thomas and the disciples. You have heard of "doubting Thomas", right? Thomas said he would not believe that Jesus was alive until he could see and touch Him. Eventually, his honest doubts were turned into faith.

Do you need evidence for your faith? Be with us on Sunday as we pray for the Lord to reach into your heart and give you evidence for your faith. Jesus is ready to provide what you need in your life. Read John 20:19-31 to prepare for worship.

Dear Trinity Family and Friends,
As disciples of Jesus, Holy Week is deep in our bones, isn’t it? We can’t imagine ignoring all the moments that form the spine of Holy Week, the readings, the songs, and the services on Good Friday. There are reasons why Christians repeat the narrative of Jesus’ last week in worship services…the reasons are a reminder that the resurrection of our Lord occurred!

Jesus’ death, burial, and Resurrection includes stories of hope, hurt, betrayal, confusion, and death – and a deep despair in which hope is buried in the tomb alongside Jesus. Each of those moments is important to remember, to know deep in our bones, before we get to that morning, when we discover that Resurrection is the climax of all the stories that God writes in your life…and God writes them all! On behalf of my wife Bridget and myself, we wish you a Holy Week, and a day full of joy on Resurrection morn’.

Here’s what’s happening this week at Trinity:

1. Good Friday Worship, at Trinity, Friday evening, April 3, 7pm
To mark the suffering and death of Jesus, we invite all who are a part of our church to join us for Good Friday. Friday evening, we will meditate and reflect upon the crucifixion of Christ. We invite you to pray for your fellow church members as you come. You will be blessed as you participate in this time of remembering Christ’s suffering on the cross.

My Message: What's So Good about Good Friday? Luke 23:44-49

2. Trinity Leadership Council Saturday, 8:30 AM
TLC and church members are welcome to join in prayer as we seek God’s guidance for decisions affecting our church.

3. Sunday School...at 9:30 AM
Join Elder Rich Johnson for engaging scripture-based discussion related to each week’s sermon.

4. This Week in Worship, Resurrection Day!
Sunday morning, we stand on the most important truth of the Christian faith—the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If there were no resurrection, there would be no gospel, no hope, no victory over sin, and no assurance of eternal life. Resurrection is not just an event we celebrate once a year—it is the foundation of everything we believe.

The resurrection confronts our fears, confirms God’s power, and commissions us with hope in our spheres of influence.

The question is not whether the tomb is empty…for it is!
The question is: What does Jesus’ Resurrection mean for you?

Sunday, you have the opportunity to respond.

Read Matthew 28:1-10 to prepare for worship.
