Help Us Rise Against Hunger!

We invite you to join us for a Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event at Leechburg UMC!

Together, we’ll roll up our sleeves and pack meals that will help provide nourishment and hope to people around the world.

Set-up begins at 7:30 AM
Meal packing begins at 9:00 AM

Come for set-up, come to pack, or come for both. Many hands make light work, and there is a place for everyone to help!

Can’t be there in person? You can still be part of the mission! Donations toward the meal packing event can be made at bethelumc.us. Choose “Give” at the top of the page, then select “Rise Against Hunger” from the drop-down menu.

The Blessing of the Backpacks has been moved to this Sunday, August 23 as many of our families were not in church yesterday due to late Summer vacations and other obligations. So please spread the word to all students (pre-k through college) to bring theirs to church this Sunday! We also know many college students have already returned to campus and we pray for them and their parents!.

Life, as many of us know, can actually become more difficult – more painful – when we choose to follow Jesus. Yet at the same time we gain a certain strength because we no longer live our life or our agony alone. We no longer live our struggle in isolation. We no longer live our pains as if nobody cares. Indeed, following Jesus means walking in his path, taking steps behind the One who shows us the way in our dark, broken, painful world.
Following Jesus means to live our life in companionship with the One who understands us fully…. Following Jesus means a life in communion, with a guide.

This Sunday, August 16 will be a day of celebration at Bethel United Methodist Church! We will receive new members and acknowledge that school begins soon by blessing all students' backpacks. This will happen during morning worship at 10:00. Immediately following the service we will have our annual church picnic (rain or shine!) You are asked to bring a dish to share; hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. We hope to see many of you in person if at all possible! If not, we celebrate with you through the magic of the internet! Exciting things are happening at Bethel...why not come and find out why!? See you Sunday!

Soon the summer of flocking will be over….but not yet!

Our annual church picnic will be held on Sunday, August 16 immediately following morning worship. Bring your favorite dish to share. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be provided. This will be a great time for fellowship and greeting our new members (who will be joining the congregation during morning worship this day!) It is also a time to relax and re-connect with old friends and new.
