The City of Lowell and the Lowell Historic Board invite you to the Sun Sign Restoration Lighting Ceremony!

📅 Monday, October 27
🕠 6:30 PM
📍 In front of the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 50 East Merrimack Street

A longtime part of Lowell’s skyline, the twin “SUN” signs atop the historic Sun Building in Kearney Square will shine again for the first time in nearly a decade. Installed in 1934, the signs have guided generations of residents and visitors — and after years of planning and restoration, they’re ready to light up the city once more.

The restoration replaced the original neon tubing with modern, energy-efficient LED lighting that preserves the signs’ iconic glow while reducing power use.

Join us to celebrate this exciting restoration project, with remarks from Mayor Daniel P. Rourke, City Manager Thomas A. Golden, Jr., and other project partners.
