One of the more exciting parts working near a gorgeous ecosystem like the Flat River is sometimes we get unexpected guests!

This little guy was chilling on our ramp this morning - probably from having trekked all the way to our building over night. So Laurel put on some gloves and took the little dude back to a more familiar spot near the river.

Our little turtle, nicknamed Arty for those precious 2 minutes, was very squirmy as he was taken across the parking lot, but as soon as the river was only a few steps away, Arty calmed, posed for a quick photo op (a true professional), and was happy to be sent on his merry way!

These murals have been in the works for about a whole year now! We are beyond excited to see public art finally come to life in our beautiful town!

Thank you Lowell's First Look for the article 😄

The Muralocity project is underway, and we caught up with two artists who are transforming buildings in Lowell.

Meet the cast of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, & Jess Winfield 🎭
October 16, 17, 18 & 23, 24, 25
Details: lowellarts.org/theatre-performances/complete-works-shakespeare

The cultural touchstone that is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) was born when three inspired, charismatic comics, having honed their pass-the-hat act at Renaissance fairs, premiered their preposterous masterwork at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes, by three actors. Fast paced, witty, and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.

Rob Freund, current board chair and long-time theatre ambassador, was the recipient of the 2026 Arty Award!

The Arty Award is a cherished tradition honoring a Lowell Arts volunteer for their exceptional service. The recipient keeps the award for one year, adds something meaningful to it, then passes it on to the next honoree. The 2025 Arty Award recipient was Sharon Oleniczak.

Rob is a dedicated volunteer. His contributions have been notably impactful and meaningful over the years, providing steady leadership and a strong, positive presence for the Lowell Arts staff and board. He gracefully manages to challenge and encourage at the same time.

Congratulations, Rob, and thank you for your steady leadership and generous spirit. We can't wait to see what you add to the award before it finds its way to next year's honoree.
