INTERESTED IN REGISTERING FOR SOCCER THIS SPRING? INTERESTED IN COACHING YOUR CHILD, NEICE, NEPHEW, FRIEND'S CHILD? WANT MORE INFORMATION?
Please take a moment to read the information below:
We are now starting to prepare for our Spring season which will be here before you know it. We are hoping to start games early to mid April – of course hoping Mother Nature cooperates. Schedules are not created until we know the number of teams we need to schedule out (usually by the end of March) We will play through early to mid June. We would like all rosters assigned within the next few weeks, so coaches have the time to prepare their CORI's without the last-minute crunch - which also helps avoid delays with the state processing) We can only complete and release rosters to parents once we have coaches assigned.
If you were a coach with us in the past and wish to coach again this Spring - PLEASE let us know this week if you have not yet already. Be sure to include the name and grade of your son/daughter you wish to coach so we can be sure to assign you correctly and register your child on our end waiving the fees. Be sure to respond to this email - we have all recreation teams available for assignment - we cannot assume you will be returning without your confirmation to this request.
All volunteers are required to complete the CORI/SORI process which includes the registering with Mass Youth Soccer as a volunteer (takes about 2 minutes), The CORI (which takes about 5 minutes to complete) and the 2 federally mandated online courses (free) - 1 - Concussion Prevention (about 25 minutes to complete) and Lastly - Safe Sport (which takes about 60 minutes to complete) Once you have completed the Safe Sport course - this is valid for 2 years and once expired - you are only required to take a refresher course which takes about 10 minutes to complete. The concussion training is valid for 2 years before having to repeat.
We recognize the process is a bit time consuming, but it is for the protection of all children and is federally mandated for each volunteer to complete. Please - take the time to consider volunteering to help us provide a rewarding soccer experience for your children. We will email out CORI/SORI instructions once you email your interest so you can get a start on the process.
Your time commitment for PreK - through Grade 2 is limited to Saturdays only (aside from emailing your team during the week) Grade 3/4 - your commitment is limited to 1 practice about 1 hour per week (as a volunteer you choose the days, time and location of practices) and games on Saturdays.
Know little to nothing about soccer? No worries. We email drills weekly and have our division coordinator available to help with questions. Coaches of our Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 teams are part of a Team management. You are not coaching alone. The number of coaches on these teams is based on the number of players (player to coach ratio) . Have an older child, relative, friend interested in coaching - email us for details. Also - as a thank you - you will receive a refund/credit season end, of your child's registration fee if you coach their team (some restrictions apply - email for details)
Thank you for taking the time to consider volunteering with us. Lowell Youth Soccer is the largest All volunteer league in the city and we would love if you could join and assist us this season. It is only with our wonderful volunteers we can offer such a rewarding soccer experience for your children. Have question - please do not hesitate to ask.
