The Barn For Equine Learning

The Barn For Equine Learning The Barn for Equine Learning is a non-profit organization that strives to connect people and horses to bring about positive change.

The Barn for Equine Learning provides equine-assisted therapy that fosters healing, growth, and transformation—where horses and humans work together to change lives. The founders of The Barn have always believed in the healing and teaching power of horses, and it has long been our dream to share that power with others. Set back on a wooded 40 acres in Lowell, MI, The Barn is home to horses, goats,

chickens, cats and dogs. Removed from the sounds and business of life The Barn is a peaceful sanctuary, offering a learning environment that makes it easy to stay present and in the moment. Like many of the people who visit The Barn, it has been a place that has undergone much growth and positive change. The Barn began without even a barn, but with big dreams. The first participants at The Barn met in a grassy field, using the trailer as a hitching post and the trails as our arena. But The Barn has come a long way. We now have a beautiful 12 stall barn and large riding arena. Our herd has also grown and we now have 12 wonderful horses of all sizes, colors and personalities. We have horse that are wonderful at beginning lessons as well as those who do more advanced riding. Our horses also love to spend time with the students in our Equine Assisted Learning program which follows the EAGALA model (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association). As we see our dreams come to reality around us at The Barn we can only look forward to where they will take us next. The Barn team has two Masters level Social Workers who are also EAGALA certified. EAGALA is a well-developed research-based equine therapy model. It utilizes a team approach which means that every session is facilitated by an equine specialist and a mental health specialist. For more information about EAGALA, you can visit their website at www.eagala.org. The Barn has gotten to where it is today because of the support of many wonderful individuals and the community at large. If you would like to become involved with The Barn, check out our programs and see if there is one that would interest you. We are also a non-profit organization that strives to offer our programs at as low a cost as possible, which means that your donations mean a lot to us and our herd. 🐴 Therapy Horse Spotlight: OLIVER🐴

Meet Oliver, one of the original members of our herd and a true cornerstone of the Barn for Equine Learning. ❤️

Since the very beginning, Oliver has faithfully served as one of our trusted equine therapists.

While he may sometimes come across as a little gruff, those who know him best understand that beneath that tough exterior is a heart of gold.

Patient, steady, and dependable, Oliver has helped countless riders build confidence, develop new skills, and experience the unique connection that horses can provide.

We are so grateful for all that Oliver has given to our program over the years.

Thank you, Oliver, for being exactly who you are—a steadfast teacher, trusted friend, and beloved member of our herd. 💙

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if Oliver has touched your life or made you smile!

🏆 What a weekend at the horse show!

Despite the rain, our riders and horses showed up ready to work, learn, and have fun—and we couldn’t be more proud!

✨ Heather & Murphy (Confetti)
Reserve Champion in the jumpers with a weekend full of consistent, rideable rounds and no rails down! Heather also earned 3rd in the Coaches Class aboard Mango.

✨ Kat & Zona (Arizona Sky)
🔥 Champion in the TIP 2’6” Hunters, 3rd in the Memorial Masters Class, and 1st in the Coaches Class.

✨ Claire & Zona (Arizona Sky)
A successful first show together! Consistent trips earned them Reserve Champion, and Claire topped it off with a 1st place Novice Medal finish.

✨ Dana & Enzo (Karrenzo)
Champion in the 3’0 Hunters and Reserve Champion in Equitation.

✨ Kylie & Whinny (In It To Win It)
First horse show together! They improved with every trip, earning 3rd in a large Maiden class and 5th in the Maiden Medal.

✨ Sophia & Annie (Strawberry Shortcake)
Consistent rounds all weekend brought home plenty of ribbons, including 5th in the Limit Medal.

✨ Penny & Dream (Dreamcatcher)
Competing in some of the weekend’s largest classes, they earned a 3rd place finish and continue to grow stronger as a team.

Stepped into a new division this weekend, earning top ribbons in Adult Equitation and Limit Hunters, plus 6th in the Adult Medal.

✨ Tracie & Annie (Strawberry Shortcake)

✨ Katty & Vina (Build me up Buttercup)
Special sportsmanship honors go to Katty and Vina this weekend for a strong warm-up trip followed by an unfortunate fall. Despite getting hurt, she still showed incredible heart by showing up on Sunday to support her teammates and the rest of the barn.

❤️ A huge thank you to our families, trainers, volunteers, and supporters who make weekends like this possible.

From first horse shows to championship titles, every rider had moments to celebrate. We’re proud of the hard work, sportsmanship, and growth shown by every horse and rider this weekend.

💙💛 Champions. Reserve Champions. New partnerships. Personal bests. Countless memories. What a weekend for our barn family! 🐴
