The Barn For Equine Learning

The Barn For Equine Learning The Barn for Equine Learning is a non-profit organization that strives to connect people and horses to bring about positive change.

The Barn for Equine Learning provides equine-assisted therapy that fosters healing, growth, and transformation—where horses and humans work together to change lives. The founders of The Barn have always believed in the healing and teaching power of horses, and it has long been our dream to share that power with others. Set back on a wooded 40 acres in Lowell, MI, The Barn is home to horses, goats,

chickens, cats and dogs. Removed from the sounds and business of life The Barn is a peaceful sanctuary, offering a learning environment that makes it easy to stay present and in the moment. Like many of the people who visit The Barn, it has been a place that has undergone much growth and positive change. The Barn began without even a barn, but with big dreams. The first participants at The Barn met in a grassy field, using the trailer as a hitching post and the trails as our arena. But The Barn has come a long way. We now have a beautiful 12 stall barn and large riding arena. Our herd has also grown and we now have 12 wonderful horses of all sizes, colors and personalities. We have horse that are wonderful at beginning lessons as well as those who do more advanced riding. Our horses also love to spend time with the students in our Equine Assisted Learning program which follows the EAGALA model (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association). As we see our dreams come to reality around us at The Barn we can only look forward to where they will take us next. The Barn team has two Masters level Social Workers who are also EAGALA certified. EAGALA is a well-developed research-based equine therapy model. It utilizes a team approach which means that every session is facilitated by an equine specialist and a mental health specialist. For more information about EAGALA, you can visit their website at www.eagala.org. The Barn has gotten to where it is today because of the support of many wonderful individuals and the community at large. If you would like to become involved with The Barn, check out our programs and see if there is one that would interest you. We are also a non-profit organization that strives to offer our programs at as low a cost as possible, which means that your donations mean a lot to us and our herd. 🐾 Help Bring Our Barn Cat Home 🐾
Missing from Timpson Ave SE, last seen on Kissing Rock

Goose, our beloved barn cat has gone on an unexpected adventure and was spotted last night some distance from the barn.

He is very important to us, as well as his brother, who has been waiting for him at home. ❤️

If you are in the area and happen to see him, please do not chase him.

Instead, message us right away with the location and time of the sighting so we can come pick him up ❤️

Thank you for keeping an eye out for one of our barn family members. 🐱

🚜 Hay Help Needed! 🚜

We have several hay trailers arriving THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 4th.

Many hands make light work and we need extra hands to help unload and stack hay in the loft.

If you can spare a few hours, we’d greatly appreciate the help.

One horse. One child. One life changed.

In memory of Susan L. Canole, a devoted equestrian who believed in the powerful connection between people, animals, and community, the Susan L. Canole Foundation continues to change lives.

Through their support, children at The Barn for Equine Learning gain confidence, build meaningful connections, and discover strengths they never knew they had.

Thank you for helping make these moments—and these transformations—possible. 🤎🐴

🐴🎥 Behind the Scenes at The Barn

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming to The Barn as he interviewed staff, therapists, volunteers, and members of our community.

Dylan is helping us create a new video that captures the heart of our mission and the impact horses have on the lives of those we serve.

Not only is he incredibly talented, but he also made the entire process feel comfortable, natural, and fun.

We’re grateful for the time and care he’s putting into telling The Barn’s story, and we can’t wait to share the finished project with all of you!

Thank you, Dylan, for helping bring our mission to life. ❤️🐴

Did you know The Barn has a Youth Committee?

Beyond their love of horses, these young ladies share a passion for kindness, service, and making a difference in their community.

Through volunteering, giving back, and spending time together at the barn, they’ve built friendships that cross age groups, grades, and backgrounds.

Childhood can come with its share of challenges, but the barn is a place where they can simply be kids.

Last night they kicked off their start of summer meeting with S’mores ❤️
