Under the Oak is a Creative Arts offering which provides space, materials and caring staff to those who would like to have an opportunity to draw, paint, write, sculpt and be creative while in a caring, safe and welcoming community of people. Under the Oak located? Under the Oak is located inside Christ Church United, 180 E. Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA (near Saints Memorial Hospital). Please go around to the back of the church on Bartlett Street and enter through that door. Although it is located inside a church, everyone is welcome – from any faith tradition or from no faith tradition. Our phone number is 978 459 9631. What are the days and hours for Under the Oak? Under the Oak takes place every Tuesday between the hours of 11 AM and 2 PM
What will I find when I get there? When you arrive at our door you will be warmly greeted by one of our volunteers. Music will be playing. There will be coffee and lunch is served from 12 to 2:00. Community, food, warmth, as well as free art supplies will be waiting for you. We also have books to take, there’s always a jigsaw puzzle in progress and supplies for knitting, stamping and jewelry making. Under the Oak is for you - to create, to be a part of a community, to eat a meal with others, to be yourself. Why the name Under the Oak? There’s a very old story about hospitality that took place under a grove of oak trees. Something very unexpected and creative happened there, too.
