Join us for a special afternoon of creativity and connection! This free, community-wide event celebrates mothers and their kids with a fun, come-and-go experience at the Lea County Museum.

If you see a Pack 89 Scout today, ask them about their new "treasure!"

Our first challenge coin trade was with Representative Jimmy G. Mason, and it’s safe to say he "set the Scouts ablaze" with the challenge of collecting. When he ran out of coins, he didn't want anyone left out—he made a special trip to collect pins so every single Scout had a memory to take home. That extra effort meant the world to them!

We also want to thank Representative Cathrynn Brown for taking time out of her busy morning to stop by, meet our boys, and shake their hands.
These small moments make a massive impact on how our kids see their leaders. Thank you both! 🤝

A huge "Thank You" to Representative Randall Pettigrew for giving Pack 89 a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Not only did he invite our Scouts to sit on the rostrum floor in the NM House of Representatives, but he made a point to personally check in on us throughout the day to ensure we were having a great time. Shaking hands and trading pins on the very floor where big changes happen in our state made the "how it works" of government feel so real for these kids.
Representative Pettigrew, thank you for your hospitality and for making our Scouts feel like they belong in the Roundhouse! ⚜️✨

🏎️ Pinewood Derby!
While some of our Scouts were at the Capitol, Our Cubmaster and the team were back home hosting a masterclass on Pinewood Derby tips & tricks!
For those new to the tradition, the Pinewood Derby is a high-stakes engineering challenge. Each Scout starts with a simple block of pine, four wheels, and four nails. From there, it’s all about physics:

Aerodynamics: Shaping the wood to cut through the air.

Weight Distribution: Strategic placement to maximize gravity’s pull.

The "Secret Sauce": Polishing axles and using graphite powder for maximum speed!

It’s STEM in action, disguised as the most exciting 3 seconds in sports! 💨

⚜️ Building Tomorrow's Leaders at the NM Capitol!⚜️

There is something truly special about seeing our Pack 89 Cub Scouts standing tall in the Roundhouse. Yesterday’s visit for Scouting at the Capitol was such a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. 🏛️💙
It’s one thing to talk about citizenship at a den meeting, but it’s another thing entirely for our kids to walk the halls where laws are made. Seeing their faces light up as they realized that this is how our state works—and that they have a voice in it—was a moment I won't soon forget.
At this age, "impacting the world" can feel like a big concept, but moments like these make it real. We aren't just teaching them to tie knots or camp; we are showing them that they belong in these spaces and that they have the power to make our community better.
So proud of our Pack 89 Cub Scouts for representing us so well and for taking their first steps toward understanding how they can change the world for the better! 🌟
