Imagine, you're on the sidewalk protesting with a large group of fellow students aka children when some aggressive officers push their way up into your group and tell you to "get out of the road" that you're not in, anyway. And while you're experiencing this already tense moment, an angry old man in plain clothes comes diving in Leeroy Jenkins style, grabbing at those fellow students aka children.
What reaction do you think you'd have to this unannounced and unmarked, angry and physically violent old man with his hands on your fellow students aka children?
Especially as you see this man not only put his hands on several girls, but even put one in a choke hold.
Several of the students tried to stop the unidentified man from getting physical with the other kids, which feels like a pretty natural reaction. We've recently seen several incidents where angry and aggressive white men have attacked kids and even run them over.
Then, suddenly, uniformed officers are grabbing kids and saying "you just hit the chief of police."
Quakertown, PA, Borough Police Chief Scott McElree is the man seen with a teen girl in a chokehold. He's the man who escalated the situation and caused violence to erupt. He was in plain clothes with no identifying clothing/badge showing, and he made first contact. With children.
Coming in aggressive with no uniform and attacking kids and then playing the victim? Nah.
That is not conduct befitting a supervisor, much less a police chief. You're supposed to know better.
And in theory, he does, but he wanted to rough up some kids who were protesting something he supports.
But of course, this dude and his goon squad cuffed and arrested and charged a bunch of kids.
Let's hope those charges are quickly dropped, along with the chief. (He'll probably get an invite to the State of the Union.)
