Sometimes the most meaningful moments in the Lodge happen when the lights are low and the building is silent.

Spent some time at the Lodge alone this morning, just soaking in the quiet and getting everything ready for next week’s Stated Communication.

It’s easy to think of Masonry as just a "one day a month" commitment, but there is so much heart and preparation that happens behind the scenes to make our meetings impactful.

Grateful for the chance to reflect on the lessons of the tools in peace before we gather again in fellowship.

Looking forward to seeing my Brothers on the level very soon. šŸ›ļøšŸ“

What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry (or Masonry) is the oldest fraternal organization in the world. Though its origins can be traced to the stonemasons and cathedral builders of Medieval times, Freemasonry remains a vital force in the daily lives of millions of men across the globe.

Through a series of degrees and ceremonies, the values of Freemasonry are passed from generation to generation, Mason to Mason, in a timeless and tireless effort to make good men better. These degrees provide a framework that affects every aspect of modern life and are based on the values of brotherly love, relief, and truth.

Every year in virtually every city and town across America, thousands of men join the ranks of Freemasonry. Men of honor and integrity. Of charity and obligation. Each with a vow to be the best they can be. To be more than just a man. To be a Mason.

šŸ› ļø Brotherhood in Action! šŸ› ļø

What a productive day at Fleetwood Harmony Lodge!

We rolled up our sleeves this morning and put in some serious sweat equity to keep our Lodge looking its best.

From minor repairs to general tidying, the progress we made is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together.

A huge THANK YOU to all the Brothers (and future brother) who sacrificed their Saturday morning to help out. Your dedication to our craft and our home doesn't go unnoticed.

It’s days like today that remind us what true fellowship is all about!

šŸ”šŸ” Special Shoutout šŸ“¢šŸŽ‰
We also want to send a huge thanks to The Chicken Coop for catering our lunch! After a hard morning of work, that burger was exactly what we needed. If you haven't tried them lately, you're missing out!

Why arguing online feels like a losing battle…

There’s a real principle behind it—
Brandolini’s Law (the BS Asymmetry Principle).

šŸ‘‰ It takes far more effort to disprove nonsense
than it does to create it.

A guy in a tin foil hat can fire off:
ā€œFreemasons run everything.ā€
ā€œI can’t get ahead because of Masonic nepotism.ā€
ā€œThey’re hiding the truth.ā€

Takes him 10 seconds.

Now you?
You need context, history, facts, sources…
and half an hour just to explain why it’s wrong.

That’s the imbalance.

And social media makes it worse.
It rewards emotion over evidence.
Short, angry claims travel fast.
Truth takes time—and most people won’t read it anyway.

Then add in confirmation bias—
People don’t want truth… they want validation.
So they cling to anything that confirms what they already believe.

And when life isn’t going their way?
They need something to blame.

šŸ‘‰ Freemasonry becomes an easy target.
Not because they understand it…
but because they don’t.

So here’s the move:

Don’t chase every argument.
Shift the burden.

Ask one simple question:
ā€œWhere did you get that?ā€

No source? No substance.

Because real knowledge stands on evidence—
not emotion, not memes, and definitely not conspiracy theories.

And remember:

You don’t have to win every argument…
especially with someone who isn’t looking for truth.

Which are you?
04/09/2026

Which are you?

āš’ļø ARE YOU A MASON… OR JUST A MEMBER OF A LODGE?

Initiation changes a man.

For a moment.

You stand in the Lodge room.
You hear the ancient words.
You feel the weight of the obligation.
You walk out thinking something important just happened.

And it did.

But then life returns.

Work.
Family.
Bills.
Deadlines.
The noise of the world.

And slowly… the lessons of the Craft begin to fade into the background.

Not because they lack power.

But because many men were never shown the most important part of Masonry:

How to live it.

Freemasonry was never meant to be a man who puts on an apron once a month.

It was meant to shape the man who wakes up every morning.

The tools we are given — the square, the compasses, the level, the plumb — were never meant to sit quietly inside a Lodge building.

They are working tools.

And working tools are meant to be used.

The real duality every Mason must confront is this:

Are we Masons inside the Lodge…
or Brothers outside of it?

It’s easy to speak of brotherhood when the Lodge is tiled.

It’s harder when a brother is struggling.

It’s easy to admire the symbols on the altar.

It’s harder to square your actions when nobody is watching.

It’s easy to talk about light during a meeting.

It’s harder to carry that light into a dark world.

The truth is simple.

Freemasonry was never meant to exist two nights a month.

It was meant to exist 24 hours a day.

When a man truly embraces the Craft, the Lodge stops being a place he visits…

and becomes a way he lives.

A Mason should be a better father.
A better husband.
A better friend.
A better worker.
A better man.

Not because someone told him to.

But because the lessons of the Craft have become part of his character.

So every Mason should occasionally stop and ask himself a hard question:

āš–ļø Am I a Mason during meetings…

or

āš’ļø Am I a Mason in the way I live every single day?

Because the real work of Freemasonry doesn’t begin when the Lodge opens.

It begins when the Lodge closes.

And the world is watching how you live.

Let’s be honest…

Some of us didn’t grow up wearing suits.

We grew up wearing work boots. šŸ‘žšŸ”Ø

And then one day you join the Craft… and suddenly you’re standing in a Lodge room thinking,

ā€œAlright… what tie goes with this?ā€

If you’re a younger Mason — or just a blue collar guy like me who never had a closet full of tailored jackets — here’s something simple that changes everything:

The 3-Color Rule.

You don’t need to be a fashion expert.
You just need a system.

šŸ”¹ Anchor (Main Color)
This is your foundation.
Navy suit. Charcoal suit. Black suit.
Keep it clean. Keep it sharp. This is your working tool.

šŸ”¹ Secondary (Complementary)
Usually your shirt.
White. Light blue. Something simple that balances the anchor.
Nothing loud. Lodge isn’t a nightclub.

šŸ”¹ Accent (Tertiary)
Tie. Pocket square. Watch strap.
This is where personality comes in. Burgundy. Deep green. Muted gold.
Use it sparingly.

Navy | White | Burgundy
You cannot go wrong. Ever.

Here’s the deeper piece, though.

Freemasonry teaches balance. āš–ļø
It teaches proportion.
It teaches that excess — in anything — creates disharmony.

Even the way you dress can reflect that discipline.

You don’t need expensive brands.
You don’t need flashy colors.
You need intention.

When you show up looking squared away, you’re not flexing.
You’re honoring the Lodge.
You’re honoring the ritual.
You’re honoring the Brothers beside you.

And for the younger guys coming in —

You don’t need to feel out of place.
Every Master Mason once stood where you’re standing.

We learn.
We improve.
We refine.

That applies to character… and yes, even to how we tie a tie.

Stand upright.
Dress with purpose.
Carry yourself like the man you’re building.

Feeling like a bit of a history detective today! šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļøšŸ“œ

I’ve been diving deep into some Masonic history research and uncovered these documents that offer a real window into the past.

It’s amazing to see the local legacy of the craft preserved so well.

Here’s a look at what I found:

* The Certificate: A beautifully ornate Scottish Rite certificate for George Hiter Parr (great-grandfather to our current WM, David Parr) showing his advancement to the 32nd Degree. The symbolism and detail on this are just stunning.

* The 1908 Return: A fascinating "Returns" form from February 1908 for Lowesville Lodge No. 293. It’s a snapshot in time—at that point, the lodge had only 16 members and had been chartered just one year prior in 1907.

* The "Moon Lodge" Tradition: If you look closely at the meeting times, they met on the "Monday before the full moon." Back then, before streetlights, brethren relied on the moonlight to travel safely to and from the lodge!

* The Ledger: A handwritten list of brothers who were "Raised" (became Master Masons), including "Geo Parr," linking the certificate back to the lodge records. Also mentioned are Massie Saunders and Dr. Herbert Dickie (doctor at the plant in Piney River).

There is something so grounding about holding a piece of history from over 115 years ago. It’s a great reminder of the many brothers who walked this path before us. šŸ•ÆļøšŸ“
