20260426: Busy weekend, even with the rain on Saturday!!! It was cold today (Sun), but we did not stop all day!!!
Joe Wolfe, our wonderful Farrier, trimmed everyone's feet, as well as put shoes on Hippy Joe's front feet to prepare for Spring Training!!! (Yes, both the man and the horse are "Joe" and this can get confusing.)
Bodie, our newest edition, is a whopping fantabulous Clydesdale!!! His first trim here was OUTSIDE, which was way outside of his experience. He did amazingly well!!! Even with a breeze, and many new people, he stood without restraint or sedation, and Joe was able to safely trim all four feet!!!
Ghost was a bit of a project, when she didn't want to be caught....but eventually she came walking up to Elizabeth and me. We haltered her and, with a lot of coaxing, she came to the gate with me. Of course, she was easy to trim!!!
Then there was Simon....who came galloping to me!!! He was so thrilled, he nearly didn't wait for me to open the gate!!! Then he kept trying to give the wrong foot to Joe!!! Silly Thoroughbred!!!
So today the following Horse Heroes got their feet trimmed: Nora, Marla, Teletubby, Simon, Bodie, Jellybean, Lilli, and Ghost!!! Hippy Joe is a boarded client, but likes to hang with our Veterans.
Then Silas came out to ride Nora for his first mounted lesson, which was great!!! Nora is such a great Horse Hero!!! She even picked up all four feet, even though she had just had the all trimmed!!! Silas did all the stretching exercises mounted. Then we worked on core strengthening and new exercises for muscle memory. Silas did really well!!!
Then it was time for the Horse Heroes' dinner. Silas was able to help feed all the horses, then we fed him, too!!!
