Thanks to all of our Valentine Heart Loving friends for another successful year of spreading the love! The following article was published in Loveland's Loveland Reporter-Herald last week. We realized that not everyone gets this paper, so here it is for your review!
"For Thompson Valley Rotary, Valentine's Day is always on our mind! We are “The Club with Heart,” and we just successfully completed our 34th year of this lovely tradition. We understand that many in our community wish the hearts could stay up even longer, we hear you and it speaks to just how beloved this tradition has become. Weather permitting, the city generally puts our hearts up the last Saturday of January and takes them down the last Saturday of February.
This program could not go forward without the help of our fellow Rotarians, Thompson Valley High School National Honor Society students, and the city of Loveland. All told, more than 400 volunteer hours were spent on this year’s program. We are also grateful to Guiry's Color Source for donating the paint.
Hearts go on sale every year at midnight on December 1st. This year, we sold 400 hearts before the sun came up. All proceeds are returned to the community through Rotary service and support for nonprofit efforts benefiting children, the environment, and other local needs. For our last fiscal year, Thompson Valley Rotary donated $45,917.
