When you hear the R-word, stereotypes, or jokes about disability, don't let it slide. You don't need a lecture; a simple “That's not a word we use” or “Let's find a different way to say that” can help create a more respectful environment.

Don't assume someone needs help, can't participate, won't understand, or doesn't have an opinion. Ask, “Would you like help?” or “How can I support you?” and let the person tell you what they need.

We had a blast clowning around at Leaps & Bounds this morning as the Playhouse transformed into a circus! 🎪 🤡 From the popcorn sensory bin, to the big top@obstacle course, to the scavenger hunt, these kiddos enjoyed every activity our ringleaders had to offer! We even painted some silly clown hair and yummy cotton candy, and spun a color wheel for a fine motor game.

This preschool program was packed with purposeful activities to help these little learners grow and build skills for this exciting stage of life. Join us for Leaps & Bounds every month on the second Saturday from 10-11am. You can register now in our online calendar for November!

Down Syndrome Acceptance Month Tip #3: TALK DIRECTLY TO THE PERSON

Speak to a person with Down syndrome the same way you would speak to anyone else. Ask them the question, make eye contact, and give them time to respond rather than directing the conversation to a parent, caregiver, or support person.

Fantastic Friends, we had a blast with you last weekend and now we have some program updates to share with you! 📢

As a reminder, next month’s program will fall on November 14th instead of our usual first Saturday AND we will be meeting at Loveland Castle! Since we are offsite, preregistration for this event will be required. You can get signed up NOW in our online calendar!

In December, we’re back to meeting on the first Saturday of the month and we’ll be celebrating with our annual Friendsgiving Potluck at the Playhouse! If you’re interested in bringing a dish, we’ve got a sign-up link in our bio and in our online calendar. Or, you can just bring yourself! 😊

It has been very cool to watch this group grow larger and closer as each month passes, and we cannot wait to see where this awesome adult crew goes next!

Our annual A Little eXtra Luck Gala is so much more than a fundraiser. It’s a night when families, friends, local businesses, community leaders, and advocates come together around one shared belief: everyone deserves a place to belong, grow, and achieve their Best of All.
