🌟 Volunteer Spotlight 🌟
At Be the Gift, we believe every volunteer has a story worth sharing. Their compassion, generosity, and willingness to serve make a lasting difference in the lives of the families we support. Each month, we are honored to recognize volunteers whose hearts for serving reflect the mission of Be the Gift.
This month, we are excited to spotlight Rigo, whose desire to serve others began long before he found Be the Gift. After years of serving, stepping away, and feeling that little nudge in his heart to get back into it, he found his way to Be the Gift and a place where he could use his skills to make a difference in the lives of others.
💙 Why did you choose to give your time to Be the Gift?
“Ever since I gave my life to Christ, I had a desire to help people, with single moms and the elderly in mind, but how, I asked myself. So after a few years of serving in the children’s ministry, going on missions trips to Mexico, seeing the need to help people with their homes, it became clear I needed to learn how to do home repairs and the idea was to eventually be financially stable in order to help people with their home repair needs full time. Unfortunately, didn’t happen that way.
So life happened and I stopped serving, but I had this little nudge in my heart to get back into it. Then one day before church service started, I noticed some tables with info about how to get involved in different things through the church. Then I saw the BTG table and had to see what that was all about and bingo, I found an organization that has been doing this for years. Then I knew I needed to connect and so I did.”
💙 How has volunteering with Be the Gift impacted your life?
“My heart rejoices when I see a smile on their faces, it’s priceless and it makes me come alive.”
💙 How have you seen it impact the lives of single-mom families?
“I’ve seen the not so good, the bad and the ugly when we go into these homes and we can see, feel the impact some of these repairs means to these moms from the simplest of them to the more complex of them.
One day I heard this phrase and since then it has been embedded in my heart: ‘See a need, fill a need,’ and has become my motto.
Thanks again and blessings to you all. Be The Gift is Legit.”
Rigo, thank you for sharing your heart and for continuing to use your skills to serve others. We’re grateful that little nudge led you to Be the Gift and that you’re helping us see a need and fill a need for the families we serve.
Thank you for being part of the gift. ❤️
