Our March 19th program is entitled: Larimer County Pioneer Roads by Ken Jessen.
The first road into Larimer County
with scheduled stage and postal service was the Overland Trail. It forged new routes combined with existing ones. Other formal roads followed: the Big Thompson Canyon Road, which opened Loveland as the gateway to Estes Park, replacing the old Pole Hill Road; Fall River Road into North Park; the ambitious Trail Ridge Road, which became part of US 34, the highest continuous road in the United States; and Poudre Canyon Road, opening the upper canyon beyond what the Red Feather Lakes Road had done.

Our Thursday program (February 19th) is Abraham Lincoln: An Unfinished American Journey.
From his frontier boyhood, Lincoln grew alongside the new nation, a parallel journey that would put leadership and moral convictions to the test during America’s most fractured days. Drawing upon Lincoln’s letters and quotations, often amusing, always astute, history re-enactor Kurtis Kelly delivers a first person portrayal of an American icon, culminating in the profound wisdom of the Gettysburg Address.
Our programs continue on the third Thursday each month beginning at 6:30pm at Loveland Museum. Doors open at 6pm.
