The Grail Girls Leadership Program is a fully virtual, paid program for young women in grades 9–12 from across the U.S.

Through 10 Saturday morning sessions, participants will explore topics like confidence, mental health, boundaries, and making a difference while working with a small team on a project that supports their community.

How are Grail women living out The Grail’s mission and vision today?

On July 25, The Grail’s Membership Development and Enrichment Team kicked off a new series of Zoom sessions called Grail Women Living Our Mission and Vision. The sessions give Grail members and explorers a chance to hear how The Grail’s mission and vision are being brought to life across the country.

The first session featured US members who attended the International General Assembly (IGA) in Brazil, sharing highlights and new learnings from the gathering.

During the IGA, five priorities were selected for study and action in the 2026–2030 term. Building on the Sustainable Development Goals and The Grail’s ongoing work locally and globally, these priorities (shown below) will help guide the work of Grail members around the world.

Join TFT in Practice for a transformative 5-day online journey designed for development practitioners, animators, and activists.

This immersive experience offers practical tools inspired by Paulo Freire’s insights and the Training for Transformation methodologies. Deepen your skills in facilitation practices, reading our realities, and structural analysis toward sustainable change, in a safe space for deep dialogue.

Training for Transformation has deep roots in the wider Grail community. The methodology grew out of the work of Grail members Anne Hope and Sally Timmel in Africa and has since grown into a global practice, with TFT in Practice carrying this work forward with participants from around the world.

Experiencing TFT: Facilitate Community Transformation takes place November 30–December 4 on Zoom. Applications are due October 30.

As we mark International Day of Peace today, check out a program for young women who want to make a difference.

The Grail Girls Leadership Program is a VIRTUAL program series for young women in grades 9–12 to discover more about themselves, care for their well-being, and find ways to make a difference in their communities and the natural world.

Applications are due October 6, and participants who complete the program receive a $300 stipend.

Can we kill invasive Callery Pear trees without herbicide or sawing them down? We’re testing it at Grailville/The Grail, and after about 3 months, we’re starting to see some promising signs!

Every single tree that the young women in our Summer Crew program girdled this summer are sending out suckers from under the girdle.

The trees are still alive, but a survival response has been triggered because the girdle blocks sugars made by the leaves from reaching the roots.

If these new shoots survive, they can feed the root system and eventually form a brand-new tree. That’s why we’ll need to periodically pull the shoots off, hopefully exhausting the roots until they run out of energy and die along with the tree.

Most people apply herbicide to that cut, but we’re trying a chemical-free approach. Our volunteers will keep removing the new shoots while we see if we can actually exhaust the roots.

We’ll be watching these trees closely over the next few months to see how this experiment turns out!

We’re excited to share volunteer and internship opportunities with Sprout Women Empowerment Trust (SWET), a women-led organization founded by Grail member Caroline Mutimbanyoka in Zimbabwe. SWET empowers women and girls with the skills and knowledge to participate in the economy and nurture the environment.

SWET is looking for support with grant writing and fundraising, as well as marketing and communications. These opportunities offer young women a chance to gain experience in these fields while supporting an international women’s empowerment organization.

Thanks to Kings High School for sending a volunteer group out to take on a big patch of invasive honeysuckle for 9/11 Day of Service!

That was especially great this year because we’re working on an area with some huge honeysuckle bushes. We have lots of native plants in the area that will be able to grow taller now that they’re out from under the honeysuckle’s shade. They made a big difference in just a few hours!
