Where do kids go when they leave foster care? đź’
In 2025, more than 169,000 youth exited foster care. Their next steps looked different:
👉 46% were reunified with their families
👉 26% were adopted
👉 10% exited to guardianship
But for 15,030 youth, foster care ended without permanency. They aged out without the lasting family connection every young person deserves.
As we recognize Reunification Month, we’re reminded that the first goal of foster care is to help families safely reunite whenever possible. And when reunification isn’t possible, children deserve permanency through adoption or guardianship.
At America’s Kids Belong, our I Belong Project helps connect adoption-eligible youth with families ready to step forward. Learn more through the link in our bio. 🔗
