Maple tree flowers provide one of the earliest sources of food for bees. You can see the flowers from a distance, as reddish clusters on the tips of the branches. The flowers are waning now, and the seeds are just starting to form.

Exhibiting at Paddlefest was great! There was a lot of positive interest. We gave away lots of kitty litter buckets to people who want to grow their own tree seedlings to give away.

Being that Rumpke (Cincinnati's trash collector) sends buckets to the landfill instead of properly recycling them, it felt really good to know that some are being repurposed by a cause that benefits the earth.

Native Americans are known to have bent trees for the purpose of trail marking. I wonder if this aged cottonwood, found in one of the canyons of The Comb in Utah, is such a tree.

Trees will be dropping their seeds soon. Now is the perfect time to be gathering kitty litter buckets and scouting out trees heavily laden with seeds.

Mission Statement
To make the world a greener, healthier place by providing individuals with the information needed to grow trees from locally collected seeds, germinating those seeds at home, and then giving the seedlings away for free within their community.
