June 2026 Newsletter

If you haven’t driven by the monument site recently, you might want to. It’s beginning to look a little different. This is what happens when you turn a “Big Kid” loose with a “Big Toy”. A big THANK YOU to Dick, Tim and their crew from Ward Construction for doing the site preparation for the monument. And another thanks to Tim Reddick for the amazing pictures he has been taking for us. They say it takes a village, but in this case, it has been a city with a “HEART” and we are eternally grateful.

The AVOL will be holding a flag retirement ceremony at the monument site, 950 North Boyd Lake Avenue at the entrance to the Loveland Sports Park at 1:00 pm Sunday June 14th. Bring your old flag for retirement if you would like.

ALERT!!

Our next event will be our 2nd Annual “Lobsterfest” on June 27th. We only have 14 tickets left. These won’t last long, so if you want to join in on a fun afternoon purchase your tickets very soon.

Next up is the 4th Annual “Bowl for Vets” on June 28th. Karen Trupp and her team have already sold out this event. Come hang out, participate in the raffle and join in with a whole lot of people having a great time supporting our veterans.

Our 4th annual Golf Tournament at Mariana Butte will be held on August 10th. We filled the course last year so register early! Registration can be done on the website: https://veteranshonormonument.org

Fundraising continues and will be a part of our organization going forward as we continue to support our veterans.

Nominations for the Honor Wall have been strong. If you are debating about putting your name on the wall, think about your grandchildren when they find Grandma or Grandpa’s name engraved on that red granite panel for all to see. This is a way to honor and show respect to those veterans with strong ties to Loveland. Go to our website, select nominations, download the form, fill it out and mail it in. When it is approved you will be notified and then payment will be accepted.

May 2026 Mid-month Update Newsletter

Thanks to Steve Stencel of Intermill Land Surveying for getting the ball rolling with the construction of your Veterans Honor Monument. Earlier this week he visited the monument site and worked a little magic. The following day a crew from High Point Companies installed the construction fencing. Our thanks go out to both companies for their support. We will do our best to keep you informed of the progress. We were very excited to see the fence go up as you can tell by the attached pictures. This is a big first step!!

A couple of reminders: The lobsterfest tickets are in short supply. If you want to join us for a great lobster tail dinner, a little fun and great entertainment, get your tickets soon. If there are tickets available after June 10th the price increases.

We are still accepting nominations for the Honor Wall and will continue offering the reduced rate of $125 through Memorial Day. Don’t delay and miss this opportunity. If you are feeling hesitant about nominating yourself, don’t. Your kids and grandkids will be excited and proud to find your name engraved on a granite wall at the Monument site.

The golf tournament on August 10th at Mariana Butte is also just around the corner. You can register on our website as well as become a sponsor. Hope to see you there.

May 2026 Newsletter

Yes, they came! A big THANK YOU from the entire Veterans Honor Monument committee to all those that attended our groundbreaking ceremony. They say it takes a village, but in this case, it has been a city with a “HEART” and we are eternally grateful. Also, your generous donations more than doubled our matching funds amount!! We are at the doorstep of being fully funded for construction. Fundraising continues and will be a part of our organization going forward as we continue to support our veterans.

Our next event will be our 2nd annual “Lobsterfest” on June 27th. Half of the tickets have already been sold. Ticket sales are way ahead of last year’s pace, and we sold that event out. So don’t wait, purchase your tickets soon.

April Mid-month Newsletter

Thanks to everyone that attended “Wigwam” for making that evening a great success. Our apologies for not being able to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend but there was a limit on seating in the venue.


Your monument committee has remained busy since then: groundbreaking on the 8th, an Honor Wall nomination session last Saturday at Pamvets and putting final plans together for our 2nd annual Lobsterfest on June 27th at the Vets club. We linked up with our supplier earlier this year and will have larger lobster tails. Last year’s event sold out and with the comments from those attendees, if you want to attend don’t wait too long to register as it is expected to sell out again. Registration for the Lobsterfest is up and running on the website.


In addition, there will be a bowling tournament on June 28. Karen Trupp and her team have already sold out that event. Make plans for our 4th Annual golf tournament at Mariana Butte Golf Course on August 10th. We filled the course last year and with your help we can do it again. Registration should be active on the website later this week.


As a reminder - nominations for the Honor Wall are still being accepted. And, the supplier is continuing to honor the $125 fee at this time. This may soon change to $250, so please submit your nomination as quickly as you can.
