The BIAK Brain Walk raises awareness of Brain Injuries and Brain Tumors. It helps us continue our outreach efforts across the Commonwealth!

Thank you for your support of the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky Brain Ball. The Ball funds BIAK’s work and is our most popular event of the year. It provides a large share of the funds needed to support the Alliance’s mission. The Alliance provides advocacy, outreach, education and prevention on behalf of individuals affected by any acquired brain injury. Honored guests will include veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars whose lives have been affected by brain injury. These brave warriors are served by BIAK’s Military TBI program. Tables are donated so that they may join us for this sparkling event. The 2015 Brain Ball will feature the 13th annual presentation of the prestigious Mary Varga Award, presented to a brain injury survivor who exemplifies courage and perseverance. REACH FOR THE STARS

Dinner is done. The tables clear. And somewhere around 9pm, the lights shift and the bass drops.

This is when the Reach for the Stars After Party takes over.

Heels come off. Ties loosen. owns the floor, and for two hours it doesn't matter who came with who, everyone ends up dancing together. Old friends. New friends. People who met an hour ago at the cocktail reception, now singing the same song at the top of their lungs.

It's the kind of joy that sneaks up on you, the kind that happens when a room full of people who care about the same thing finally lets loose together. Light hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a dance floor that doesn't quit until 11.

The room goes quiet for just a second.

The auctioneer's voice picks up speed. A paddle rises. Then another. Somewhere near the back, someone leans over to their friend and whispers "should we?", and before the answer even comes, the paddle is already in the air.

This is the moment the Live Auction takes over the Night of Stars BIAK Brain Ball. Hearts race. Strangers become teammates for thirty seconds, cheering each other on to go just one bid higher. The energy builds until the gavel finally falls, and the whole table erupts.
