From struggling to find employment to helping others find their way forward, Kristen’s story is one of resilience, opportunity, and transformation.

After surviving domestic violence, addiction, and incarceration, Kristen was determined to build a better future for herself and her three children. Goodwill Kentucky gave her that chance.

What began as a part time job grew into a career in leadership and, eventually, a role as a career coach. Along the way, Kristen pursued her education, regained her independence, and built a life of stability.

“I am living proof of Goodwill’s mission,” Kristen shared. “I am not who I used to be because Goodwill gave me the chance to become who I was meant to be.”

Today, Kristen is using her experience to help others recognize what is possible and take their own steps toward a brighter future.

Darleen Horton, Director of Community Impact, and Dwon Bradley, Training Facilitator, recently joined Great Day Live to talk about how our Opportunity Centers provide free resources, training, career support, and connections to services across the communities we serve.

And it all starts with one simple step: come as you are and tell us you need help. Our team will help guide you from there.

Our retail stores help make this work possible, with approximately 90 cents of every retail dollar supporting programs and services that further our mission.

BOOtique Battle Winner Update! 🏆
After further evaluation, we've determined that our Glasgow store is the official 2026 BOOtique Battle winner!

As part of our commitment to keeping BOOtique Battle fun and fair for all participating stores, we conducted an internal review of the final voting results.
During this review, we identified irregularities in voting activity that impacted the final standings.

Jamie’s story is one of survival, determination, and the power of a second chance.

For decades, addiction and trauma shaped much of her life. In 2024, an overdose left Jamie in a coma for 14 days. When she survived, she knew something had changed.

She had been given another chance, and she was determined to make it count.

As Jamie began rebuilding her life, she learned about Goodwill Kentucky. What she found was more than a place to work. She found an opportunity to keep moving forward.

This Giving Day, your gift can help create more opportunities for Kentuckians working toward stability, self-sufficiency, and a brighter future.

Mission Monday 💙

After years of addiction and incarceration, Jennifer was determined to build a different future. Today, she’s doing just that.

Through her commitment to recovery and support from Goodwill Kentucky, Jennifer successfully completed drug court, developed new skills, and found opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

Now serving as a team lead at our Mapleleaf store in Lexington, Jennifer is moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

“I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m committed to continuing this path,” Jennifer shared.

Congratulations to our Berea Goodwill store, the winner of the First Annual Goodwill Kentucky BOOtique Battle!

Berea’s Halloween display earned more than 400 votes, taking home The Golden Cauldron and some serious statewide bragging rights. 👻
