Proceeds from this gala benefit local area charities and the construction of a cultural center. The Greek Glendi, Louisville’s Hellenic Society Gala, is one of our most important fundraising events of the year. The word “Glendi” in its literal Greek translation, means “party,” but for the ancient Greeks, it signified the sharing of Greek cuisine, entertainment, and culture. Usually, for one night

only, the Olmsted (where the Greek Gala is held) is transformed into an elegant venue for a multiple-course Greek fine dining, authentic ethnic dancing, and live bouzouki music. A silent auction is available, as well as the annual Glendi Raffle. For 2021 due to the pandemic, the Greek Glendi fundraiser event is exclusively done online, with a Greek-themed Raffle, and a Greek Trivia Quiz available to all raffle participants.
