🔑 : On October 22, 1777, Connecticut soldier Joseph Plumb Martin arrived at besieged Fort Mifflin on the Delaware River. With limited food, clothing, and supplies, Martin and approximately 500 fellow soldiers endured weeks of intense British bombardment before evacuating on November 16. The survivors marched on to the harsh winter encampment at Valley Forge. Martin served until the end of the Revolutionary War and later documented his experiences, describing Fort Mifflin as his most difficult trial of the war.

President General Allen Greenly was proud to join the Virginia SAR at the Yorktown Day commemoration on October 19 in Yorktown, Virginia! 🇺🇸

Joined by the Virginia Society, members of the SAR, DAR and C.A.R., and other dignitaries, PG Greenly participated in a day honoring the American victory at Yorktown and the legacy of the American Revolution.

The day included memorial wreath-laying ceremonies at the French Cemetery, Grace Church, and the Monument to Alliance and Victory, a ceremony honoring the French and American Alliance at the French Memorial, and the annual Yorktown Day Parade.

We are proud to honor the Patriots and allies whose sacrifices helped secure American independence!

🔑 : On October 20, 1774, the First Continental Congress adopted the Articles of Association, establishing a united colonial boycott of British goods in protest of the Coercive Acts. This landmark act of cooperation helped pave the way for American independence.
