Another congratulations for Emmalee Johnson for being inducted as the AAFCS Student Unit Vice Chair! She will be a wonderful representative for WAFCS and all pre-professionals across the nation.

Congratulations are in order for one of our most decorated WAFCS members.

Carol Anderson, CFCS has been named one of five individuals to be awarded the Lifetime Legacy Award. This is the very first year this award has been given, and there’s not one more deserving than Carol.

Thank you Carol for the years of dedication to our profession!

Our own Sadie Ho**er presented a FastTalk titled “Trash-to-Treasure Teaching: Upcycled Projects in Housing & Design” to a full audience at the AAFCS Annual Conference. Projects included models houses, pasta furniture, home zines, and more.

The WAFCS Delegation has arrived to the 2026 AAFCS Conference in Louisville, Kentucky!

Highlight of opening day include Emmalee Johnson, FCS Student, inducted as the AAFCS Student Unit Vice Chair, Opening Ceremonies, and a boat tour on the Ohio River.

Saturday, Elaine Staaland was laid to rest. She was the FCS Education Consultant at DPI for over 30 years. Her legacy includes FCS program development that addressed continuing concerns of the family and infused critical thinking skills throughout the curriculum.

Elaine was a founder of the WI FCCLA Foundation and state adviser to countless state officers. She served as the first Health Sciences Consultant at DPI and took steps to initiate the first HOSA chapters in Wisconsin.

Elaine was a trailblazer for modern FCS in Wisconsin. Her impacts and attitude has made the world a better place. May she rest in peace.
