We hope everyone is resting on this day after Derby. Whether you enjoyed the festivities, threw a party, won some money, or lost some money, the entire event is a partnership between the Community, the City, and Unions.

Teamsters 783 represents the City Workers in the following units:
- Louisville Metro Police-Civilians
- Louisville Metro EMS
- MetroSafe (911)
- Some portions of Public Works such as:
- Roads & Operations
- Signs & Markings
- Solid Waste
- Codes & Regs
- LMPD Tow/Impound
- Fleet & Facilities
- PARC

All of these folks work hard to make sure the City is ready to host the events leading up to the Derby and through the Derby itself. “Derby Season” is sort of their “Super Bowl” season because there’s a lot of moving parts and folks working in the background to make sure the events are safe for everyone to enjoy.

We snagged some photos from the our partner’s social media pages, showcasing some of “Our” folks hard at work.

Workers shouldn’t have to wait years for their first contract!

Workers have the right to a collective bargaining agreement after they vote for a union, but the law is full of loopholes and companies drag out the negotiation process for years. On average today, it takes 458 days to secure a first contract!

This is a problem that we can solve right now. The Faster Labor Contracts Act establishes a reliable first contract bargaining timeframe.

Even with strong bipartisan support, the Faster Labor Contracts Act has waited nearly two years for a vote.

Teamsters and workers across the country are done waiting for corporate-backed politicians to hold Big Business accountable.

Tell your member of Congress to “sign the discharge petition” and bring the Faster Labor Contracts Act up for a vote!

THIS is why strike language is SO valuable! It IS the leverage labor has over corporate greed! You are just a number to the Company. But if workers come together in unwavering SOLIDARITY….watch out! 🙌🏻💪🏻

BREAKING 🚨🚨

In a landmark settlement, Amazon has conceded it will no longer retaliate against workers who exercise their right to strike, following relentless pressure from the Teamsters Union in sessions mediated by the National Labor Relations Board. Historically, Amazon deducted Unpaid Time (UPT) from those who strike in direct retaliation against workers exercising their rights. Last year, the NLRB ruled that Amazon had illegally taken striking workers’ UPT, which exists as a bank of hours that Amazon workers can use for unscheduled leave and emergencies.

"As Amazon Teamsters, we are the only ones who have ever successfully forced this company to respect the right to strike," said Robert Moore, a warehouse worker at DCK6 in San Francisco. "Amazon workers everywhere should know that thanks to this settlement, they too can become Teamsters without losing their Unpaid Time. It’s time to get organizing and secure even stronger rights on the job."

Amazon’s settlement with the Teamsters will now restore the illegally deducted time to affected workers and ensure all Amazon workers can strike in the future without losing their UPT. The settlement will cover all of Amazon’s 1,300 facilities nationwide, and Amazon is required to post a notice to workers informing them of their rights.
