Here's your chance to share your ideas. Have you taken the survey yet?

Louisville Cultural Services is shaping a new Strategic Plan, and the Library is proud to be part of this community‑wide effort. We’re inviting residents to share their ideas, priorities, and hopes for the future of Library services, programs, and spaces. Your input will help guide how we grow, innovate, and serve Louisville in the years ahead.

Take the survey at EngageLouisvilleCO.org or pick up a paper copy at the Library, Museum, or any City event through the end of August. Your voice matters—thank you for helping shape what comes next.

Reading Buddies Winter 2026 Session is Open!
Applications are due January 5 at 5 PM.

What is Reading Buddies?

📕 Reading Buddies pairs teenage volunteers ages 13-17 (Big Buddies) with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students (Little Buddies).

📗 The Buddies meet for an hour every week of the session. They read together then do fun reading-related activities.

📘 Reading Buddies helps boost young readers' skills and gets kids excited about reading and the library. It is not a tutoring service.

The results are in!

This summer, an incredible 3,738 readers of all ages joined the challenge! Children, teens, and adults came together to log an astounding 129,300 days of reading – that's a 19% jump from last year.

Thank you to our generous sponsors who supported this year’s Summer Reading Challenge!

The Louisville Public Library's Summer Reading Challenge stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together around the shared value of reading, creating lasting memories, and fostering a strong connection to our community.
