Just a couple of rockstars hanging out after work at the almost world famous Aero club.

John Kinder might be the nicest dude at Hikes Point, maybe in the whole city of Louisville.
Doug Gurley is literally a rock star-on the stage and on the route in Cherokee.

Great picture and great dudes!

CONGRATULATIONS to Sister Missy Harris and Branch 14 for winning back-to-back (2024 & 2025) MDA contribution awards for branches with between 1000 and 1499 members. She has made us very proud. Great job Missy! Now, enough sitting around, the last effort to raise funds for MDA is getting close to ending. The flyer and QR code are attached here for the MDA Ninja Slushie Raffle. Only cost $10 per chance. There were 100 chances and we are down to 33 remaining. Reach out to Missy to take a chance on this awesome machine. Thank you Missy!

This one is from your branch President. I write this from the terminal at LAX. When it is published, all but a few stragglers from the National Convention will have returned home.

It was quite a convention, unlike any I have previously attended. Lots of discussion, lots of amendments and lots of teller votes, many that were unnecessary.

The national convention showed the great divide of the NALC. Branch 14 attendees are also have different opinions on who to support among the candidates. That’s okay. We are a union that supports democracy, so every one has a vote.

In this picture you see our section of the convention floor. To me these folks were the most important delegates at the convention. We all have differences: some of us vote Democrat, others vote Republican. Some of us are Card fans, others pull for the Cats (Go Big Blue!). And as I said, we also have different views on the future of the leadership of the union.

My role as president is to represent the members of Branch 14, despite any differences. You may not personally like me, but I will always have your back.

So I pledge that no matter the outcome of this election, I will support our new leaders. In the KIM region, we are very lucky to have two candidates who have pledged to continue to work with and for the branch. We are extremely lucky to have individuals running who will put the branch above politics to help us achieve great things for our members.

I urge any with disagreements with any brothers and sisters to put those aside. We are stronger when we stand together. Remember the state motto of Kentucky, “United we Stand, divided we fall.” Add to the old union mantra. “United we bargain, divided we beg.”

In addition to winning the MDA, Branch 14 placed third in organizing for a branch our side. The main reason we do so well are the men and women who do orientations and training, led by Steve Terry.

However, we appreciate our shop stewards who follow up with carriers who first say no. Congratulations to our members on the dedication to the NALC.

The Branch 14 family grew yesterday and got a little bit sweeter. Remi Josephine has entered the world.. Both she and her mother are doing well.

She joins a strong letter carrier family. Her grandfather is our branch treasurer Greg Ray. (Greg started yesterday at the National Convention yesterday morning and scrambled to get home to welcome Remi). Her great grandfather is Jim Doss.

Congratulations to the entire family! We can’t wait to meet Remi!
