Tuvugane

Tuvugane Tuvugane is a community organization made up of Burundian youth with a goal of creating solidarity for a better Burundi. Burundi is more than just the country.

Tuvugane’s vision is to witness full development of Burundi as a country, and as a people. Tuvugane is made up of ambitious Burundian youth with a goal of creating Solidarity for a Better Burundi. It is the people, the culture, the tradition, and the various Burundian communities. Ultimately, we would like to create solidarity in the diaspora and promote or support our fellow Burundian youth innov

ations. We pledge to be devoted to the propagation and sharpening of academic skills, social skills and talents, the discussion of current issues, and development of leadership skills. Although we are based in Louisville, we hope to collaborate with Burundian youth in the United States and abroad. We invite anyone who is Burundian or has passion for Burundi to connect with us.

Tips for Building Healthier Relationships with Your African Parents

Many of us were raised in homes where respect, family reputation, sacrifice, and survival shaped how love was expressed. While we honor our parents and their journeys, we can also work toward healthier communication and stronger connections.

✨ A few tips:
• Lead with understanding. Your parents’ experiences may have shaped their parenting style in ways you don’t fully see.

• Communicate expectations clearly. Don’t assume they know what you need—share respectfully and honestly.
• Set healthy boundaries without guilt. Boundaries aren’t rejection; they’re tools for healthier relationships.

• Ask questions about their story. Understanding their upbringing can create empathy and bridge generational gaps.

• Focus on connection, not winning arguments. Sometimes being heard is more important than being right.

• Celebrate progress. Healing family relationships is a journey, not a single conversation.

Remember: You can honor your culture while creating healthier patterns for yourself and future generations.
