First experiences have a lasting impact.

For new educators, those first days and weeks help shape expectations, habits, and confidence.

When new teachers experience strong relationships, supportive coaching, and positive classroom practices early on, they're more likely to carry those experiences forward.

Strong starts matter—for children and for educators.

Learn how every person working in early childhood, from teachers to administrators to state representatives, can impact new teacher retention in the replay of our most recent webinar!

Juneteenth invites reflection—not only on history, but on how systems evolve, and what it takes to build something different moving forward.

Its history is closely tied to the systems that shaped early childhood in the United States.

Child care as an industry was built, in part, on the forced labor of Black women—whose care and nurturing were essential, yet undervalued and separated from their own families.

That legacy continues to influence how the field is structured today—who provides care, how that work is valued, and what access looks like across communities.

In early childhood, those realities still shape:

• workforce conditions
• which communities have access to high‑quality care
• how that care is experienced across communities

Juneteenth offers an opportunity to look at those systems more clearly—and to consider what it takes to strengthen them for the future.

The question isn’t whether there’s something to talk about. There always is. The question is how we can use every moment we’re already in.

Some of the richest conversations of a child's day happen in the most unexpected places. And LENA's newest blog post walks through four of these everyday moments with simple, age-specific ideas for sparking more back-and-forth. It's practical, it's warm, and it's the kind of resource families actually use.

Our team really enjoyed presenting and, of course, connecting at the New Mexico Early Childhood Education Department's Choose Connection Conference a couple of weeks ago!

There were so many wonderful conversations!

One of those conversations was from Grace Mabborang, Special Education Support Specialist at School of Dreams Academy in New Mexico. We hope you'll listen to what she had to say about how LENA Grow impacted the children and teachers there!

Today is International Day of Play!

In early childhood settings, play often gets framed as a break from more structured learning.

But in practice, it creates a different set of conditions—ones where interaction can become more responsive, extended, and child-led.

Children revisit ideas.
Adults follow emerging interests.
Conversations shift direction and build over time.

Those dynamics don’t happen in the same way everywhere—but they show up consistently in play!

Replacing a single early childhood teacher can cost a program around $18,000 — and that doesn't count the impact on children, families, or the colleagues left behind.

Our upcoming webinar tackles this head-on with voices from Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee who are rethinking what "onboarding" means in the early childhood sector.

You'll hear:
➡️What LENA Grow data reveals about new teacher retention
➡️How apprenticeship and other creative frameworks are creating real pathways for early educators
➡️What program leaders can do right now to redesign early support
