What do you see when you look at this photo?

We met two people who had fallen on hard times and found a place where they felt safe. This is at The Hope Connect, our community space on West Market Street.

Because of the relationships we've built with our community partners, we were able to help this couple move from living behind our building into housing. Their story is one worth celebrating, and it also reminds us how much work remains. In the process, our fencing sustained damage that now requires approximately $2,000 in repairs.

The painful reality is that our community has few options for couples experiencing houselessness. When people have nowhere else to go, they create safety wherever they can. Yet the response presented to us was not housing, supportive services, or a humane plan. It was to remove them and their belongings with a dumpster as quickly as possible to avoid continued citations and fines.

At The Hope Village, we are called to respond to houselessness with dignity, compassion, and practical solutions. Yet too often, the city simply move people out of sight. We refuse to believe that displacement is the same as stability.

Real solutions require safety. They require mental health support. They require sustainable funding. They require communities willing to see people before they see problems.

This is your invitation to be part of a different response.

Compassion is not passive, it is something we build together.
If we want different outcomes, we must be willing to invest in different solutions. Together, we can build a community where no one has to find safety behind a fence because they have nowhere else to go.

We are always thankful for you our friends at Global Game Changers. They always use their superpowers and provide items for our community neighbors and friends. They made intentional hygiene boxes for our friends The Hope Village and collected winter items for community members.

When the weather gets harsh, our commitment gets stronger. While many things slow down, our work doesn’t close. We’re still on the ground making sure hot meals are served and our community is cared for with warmth, dignity, and love.

So grateful for partners like Feed Louisville who show up with us, making it possible to keep plates full and hope alive even on the coldest days. This is what community looks like.

Freezing temperatures and heavy snow that come with this winter storm directly impact our neighbors at The Hope Village and the larger community. If you can make a donation as we continue to show up for our community, we greatly appreciate it, https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/thv-campaign

This is a winter emergency. Freezing temperatures and heavy snow have forced more of our unhoused neighbors to seek shelter at The Hope Village, and we are ensuring to keep people safe from life-threatening conditions. We are working nonstop to provide hot meals, warm drinks, and critical cold-weather supplies — but our resources are being stretched fast. With roads unsafe and temperatures dropping, the need is immediate and urgent.

If you have ever thought about supporting this work, now is the moment. Your donation helps us keep someone warm, fed, and alive during this dangerous weather event.

Please give what you can right now:https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/thv-campaign

Every dollar matters. Every share could reach someone who can help. Lives depend on community showing up. ❄️🖤 # CommunityCare
