Water is a necessity of life and no one should have to live like this. We have to do better for our brothers and sisters throughout the Commonwealth.

For more than a decade, state regulators in Frankfort have monitored — but not fixed — systemic failures at the Martin County Water District, which serves a population of about 12,300. Residents faced with either dry taps or murky water say they’ve run out of patience.

It's hard to accept that this is the same KY where we all grew up. Without a sense of hope, pride and purpose people lose faith and start to grasp desperately for the next quick fix to fill that void. Spiraling down further until they give up. It's time the Commonwealth came together to lift up our neighbors in need. .

Across America, especially in rural and working-class communities, death rates have been accelerating among middle-aged white women for a generation.
