That’s exactly what we do at Sowing Seeds with Faith.

As we count down to our Gala, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to say THANK YOU.

Thank you to those who believed in us from the beginning.
Thank you to those who are just getting started with us.
And a special thank you to those who have been right here with us for nearly 10 years. Your support, generosity, encouragement, and belief in the work have helped carry us this far.

Our youth appreciate you. Our parents appreciate you. Our community appreciates you. And the mission must continue. 🌱

For nearly a decade, we’ve continued to plant seeds, create experiences, provide exposure, and help young people see what’s possible when they have a village that believes in them.

Now, it’s time to celebrate 10 years of planting seeds and growing futures.

Pictured here is Neveah in 2026 at Norfolk State University, where she is now a student. In 2023, she joined us on our HBCU college tour and visited Norfolk State as a scholar.

Now, we’re back at Norfolk State visiting HER — and she’s on track to graduate in December as our first HBCU graduate! 🥹🎓

When people ask, “Why do you do this?” THIS is why. We give scholars exposure and experiences, plant the seed, and watch them turn opportunities into their own success.

Norfolk and Hampton did NOT disappoint! 💚🧡

Thank you Hampton University and Norfolk State University 🔰 for the incredible tours, education, and knowledge you shared about your HBCUs. It was beautiful to see Black excellence, students rapping, and people genuinely loving and representing their school. That HBCU pride is unmatched!

Norfolk definitely felt like home, while Hampton reminded us that sometimes the foundation and history alone carry a school in a powerful way.

Thank you Virginia State University for showing our students a GREAT time at Virginia State University! From the newly renovated campus to the history, energy, and opportunities, VSU gave our students another perspective on what college can look like.

A bigger HBCU. A new environment. A chance to experience college away from home.

We want our students to explore it ALL—because college is not about what looks good to everyone else. It’s about finding what makes sense for YOU.

DAY 2 was WONDERFUL! 💚🧡

Today, we celebrated some BIG wins! 🎓✨ Six of our scholars received pre-acceptances to college, and one scholar was accepted on the spot to Virginia Union University! WOW! What an incredible achievement!

And we’re not stopping there — more of our scholars are applying! To see their smiles, excitement, and confidence throughout the day was truly special. 🥹💚

A HUGE thank you to Virginia Union University for being so intentional with our scholars and giving us an incredible experience from beginning to end. You welcomed us, educated us, and made us feel right at home.

Our scholars applied, laughed, danced, learned, explored, and gained knowledge about the history—past and present—of this incredible institution and city.

Richmond may be a big city, but today, Virginia Union felt like HOME. 🏡💚

🌱 HBCU TOUR 2026 — DAY 1 🎓

Yesterday started in Louisville, but our day began in West Virginia at West Virginia State University! 💚🧡

We officially checked school #1 off our HBCU Tour itinerary! ✅ We were honored to meet the President of the University, learn about the rich history of WVSU, and discover the incredible legacy of Katherine Johnson, the mathematician whose story was featured in Hidden Figures.

🎬 Fun Fact: Lou Myers, who played Mr. Vernon Gaines on A Different World, was also a WVSU alum!

After a LONG day of traveling, touring, learning, and making memories, we finally got a chance to relax—and of course, we had to end the night with L.U.G.! 🙌🏾

One HBCU down. More campuses, more exposure, more experiences, and more seeds being planted. 🌱🎓

❤️ THE VILLAGE SHOWED UP! 🌱

A huge thank you to every volunteer who gave up their Saturday to pour into our youth! You didn’t just show up — you showed up with purpose.

The heart of this workshop was our Mock Interviews, giving our young people the opportunity to practice answering questions, build confidence, learn professional mannerisms, and receive real feedback from adults with different experiences and expertise. You listened to them, challenged them, helped strengthen their answers, and prepared them for the opportunities ahead.

You also shared your own experiences and different walks of life, creating a space where our youth could be honest, transparent, and confident in walking in their truth.

Our youth researched the HBCUs we’ll be visiting, explored other HBCUs they may want to attend, and, of course, had a great icebreaker! 😂

This opportunity could not happen without you. This is what it means to be part of the village — not just supporting youth, but pouring into them, listening to them, and helping them grow.

We are grateful for every person who continues to believe that it takes a village. 🌱

That’s what we do at Sowing Seeds With Faith. 🌱

Yesterday’s Teen Talk was AMAZING! Our youth led a powerful conversation about LOVE & LUST and what it looks like, what it feels like, and the difference between love/lust, relationships, and friendships. They explored how to navigate these spaces while creating a safe place for honest conversations.

We are SO proud of our youth for leading this initiative and using their voices! Their voices matter. Their experiences matter. They matter. ❤️
