Honor Flight Bluegrass, based in Louisville, Kentucky, and is recognized as a 501(C)(3), all-volunteer, non-profit organization created to honor America’s WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans for all their sacrifices. We fly WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans to Washington, DC and provide them with a first-class VIP tour to each of their respective memorials to honor their service and sacrif
ices. In addition, Veterans from these said wars with a diagnosed terminal illness, will be given top priority. (In reference to Vietnam Veterans, please note, that we do have a waiting list that we are diligently working on so that we can get them on a mission.) Veterans are selected on a “first-come, first-served” basis as relegated by their war service date and application date, regardless of location of duty. European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign-Medal (7 Dec. 1941 to 8 Nov. 1945)
Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal (7 Dec. 1941 to 2 Mar. 1946)
American Campaign Medal (7 Dec. 1941 to 2 Mar. 1946)
AMERICAN MERCHANT MARINES - In oceangoing service during the period of armed conflict, 7 Dec. 1941 to 15 Aug. 1945
KOREAN WAR - 27 June 1950 to 27 July 1954 (eligible for the Korean Service Medal)
VIETNAM WAR- 28 Feb. 1961 to 7 May 1975
OTHER – service during periods between WWII and the Korean War, or between the Korean War and the Vietnam War. 1948-1951 and 1955 and 1961
Priority is given to those who are terminally ill, regardless of above mentioned wars, age, and branch of service.
