Honoring Walter L. "Cobbie" Harrison
Louisville Male High School – Class of 1965
Walter L. "Cobbie" Harrison was one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes in the history of Louisville Male High School. A three-sport standout, Cobbie excelled in football, baseball, and basketball, helping establish a tradition of excellence.
On the football field, Cobbie starred at tight end and linebacker, playing a key role on Louisville Male's back-to-back undefeated Kentucky State Championship teams of 1963 and 1964, which combined for a 22-0 record. On the baseball diamond, he compiled a 35-1 pitching record and batted .620 with 12 home runs as a senior. He signed with the Minnesota Twins after graduation.
Cobbie proudly served in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam and Korea.
He later became a legendary professional softball player, winning a Softball World Series and earning four consecutive All-Pro selections. As a manager, he led teams to nine WSL World Series championships.
Walter L. "Cobbie" Harrison passed away on September 23, 2025, and was laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky. His legacy endures through his athletic achievements, military service, and leadership.
