The Louisville Book Festival and Foxing Books welcome Roxane Gay to our gigantic book party. Roxane is the kind of writer people will be excited to hear from no matter who they are or where they come from because her work reaches across background, genre, identity, and lived experience. She writes with honesty, intelligence, humor, courage, and deep humanity about the things so many people are trying to understand: who we are, how we live, what we carry, what we believe, what hurts us, what shapes us, and how we make meaning from our lives.
You do not have to be a writer to be moved by Roxane Gay. You do not have to be a scholar, critic, activist, or lifelong reader. You only have to be a person who has ever thought deeply about the world, questioned your place in it, loved a story, survived something hard, wanted language for something you could not quite explain, or believed that books can help us see ourselves and each other more clearly.
That is why this is such a powerful opportunity for our city. Roxane Gay brings more than literary fame. She brings conversation. She brings perspective. She brings truth-telling. She brings the kind of presence that reminds us why books, ideas, and public conversations are so important. And this fall, on October 24, Roxane Gay will be at the Louisville Book Festival.
Please help us start her welcome now.
