Where is the lie?
We just had to repost this from who also noted that her “developmental editor was insanely good” and “worth every penny”. She also added this caution: NEVER scrimp when it comes to editing.
We could not agree more and will post something more on this tomorrow or the next.
Please have your books professionally edited. Don’t hold back on your dream!

Yes, that Roxane Gay.

06/20/2026

The Louisville Book Festival and Foxing Books welcome Roxane Gay to our gigantic book party. Roxane is the kind of writer people will be excited to hear from no matter who they are or where they come from because her work reaches across background, genre, identity, and lived experience. She writes with honesty, intelligence, humor, courage, and deep humanity about the things so many people are trying to understand: who we are, how we live, what we carry, what we believe, what hurts us, what shapes us, and how we make meaning from our lives.

You do not have to be a writer to be moved by Roxane Gay. You do not have to be a scholar, critic, activist, or lifelong reader. You only have to be a person who has ever thought deeply about the world, questioned your place in it, loved a story, survived something hard, wanted language for something you could not quite explain, or believed that books can help us see ourselves and each other more clearly.

That is why this is such a powerful opportunity for our city. Roxane Gay brings more than literary fame. She brings conversation. She brings perspective. She brings truth-telling. She brings the kind of presence that reminds us why books, ideas, and public conversations are so important. And this fall, on October 24, Roxane Gay will be at the Louisville Book Festival.
Please help us start her welcome now.

Big Secret #4 is officially out!

We are thrilled to announce that beloved Louisville indie bookstore A Novel Romance is curating an entire track of festival programming at the Louisville Book Festival.

This is such exciting news for our community. (Side note: the background in this photo is a real mural at the store. A Novel Romance is BEAUTIFUL! Please visit! Thank you Carmen for taking my fangirl photo🤭)

A Novel Romance has created a beautiful home for romance readers in Louisville, and now they are bringing that energy, expertise, joy, and love of books to this year’s festival in a big way.

Romance is one of the most powerful, popular, and community-building genres in publishing. It brings readers together, celebrates emotion and connection, and reminds us that love stories deserve to be celebrated fully and shared widely.

This special programming track will be a gift to romance readers, but it will also be a gift to all book lovers. Whether you already adore romance, are curious about the genre, or simply love being part of a vibrant literary community, this partnership will add something special, fun, and meaningful to the Louisville Book Festival experience.

We are proud to partner with A Novel Romance and grateful for the ways local indie bookstores help shape the literary life of our city.

The Louisville Book Festival is growing, and partnerships like this are exactly how we build something beautiful together.

Romance readers, book lovers, and Louisville literary friends we can’t wait to meet you there!
