Tickets are $10 dollars each - you must be a dues paying member or a retiree to purchase tickets. Children three and under get in free!

Tickets include free parking and fair admission on the day of the event.

CONTRACT RATIFIED AT TYSON FOODS

Teamsters Local 89 members at Tyson Foods have ratified a new three-year agreement by an overwhelming 97%.

The new contract contains historic economic gains for our members at Tyson Foods, including wage increases of $5 dollars over the life of the agreement resulting in a significant 19% boost in pay. In addition, CDL mechanics had their pay brought in line with CDL drivers giving them a large and much needed increase.

Other economic highlights include a $0.45 cent increase in the shift premium for workers performing loadout duties and a $0.65 cent increase for feed recovery work, healthcare and 401k contributions were locked in for the life of the agreement, new hires are now eligible for holiday pay and jury duty pay, an increase for shoe allowance which has also been converted into an annual check rather than a reimbursement, increase in paid funeral leave for step parents, step children and grandparents-in-law as well as aunts and uncles being added as unpaid days, the use of vacation time when taking FMLA is now optional at the members discretion, and a clause that automatically improves health and welfare benefits if any other Tyson Foods location receives a better plan.

The agreement also contains several significant non-economic improvements including new language preventing constant in-truck camera and audio monitoring, new language for bidding on open runs when other members are off work, disciplinary warnings now last six months down from twelve, and more.

This historic contract victory came just two days prior to the contract expiration and is a result of the bargaining committee and rank-and-file members being ready to do whatever necessary to win what they deserved.

We’d like to thank our bargaining committee for their hard work and dedication to winning this strong contract, including Business Agents Daniel Cartmill (chair) and Wes Odle (co-chair), and our rank-and-file committee members Tony Dillard, Dale Hurd, Waylon Bradshaw and John Murphy.

TYSON FOODS CONTRACT EXPIRATION LOOMS

The clock is ticking as Local 89’s contract with Tyson Foods is set to expire on August 16, 2026. Our bargaining committee has been fighting hard for the contract our members deserve, only to be met by weak responses and stall tactics by the Company.

Further dates for negotiations are set for next week, and it is our hope that Tyson Foods finally does the right thing and agrees to a contract that rewards our members for the hard work and service they provide. But if the Company chooses to continue playing games, Local 89 and our members are prepared to do whatever it takes to secure a strong new contract.

ABM MECHANICS AND BUS WASHERS JOIN LOCAL 89

ABM mechanics and bus washers have unanimously voted to join Teamsters Local 89.

These workers handle all maintenance and washing on the shuttle buses at UPS Worldport and are severely underpaid for the jobs they perform. They approached Local 89’s Organizing Department after seeing the positive changes ABM shuttle drivers and pilot van drivers received after becoming Teamsters and winning strong contracts.

The campaign moved extremely quickly, taking less than three weeks for 100% of the mechanics and bus washers to sign organizing cards, with the election following just two weeks after that.

Teamsters Local 89 would like to give a special thanks to ABM Shuttle Steward Curtis Durst for playing a significant role in this campaign by working alongside our Organizing Department.

Once the election is certified by the National Labor Relations Board, Local 89 will begin scheduling contract proposal meetings and will reach out to ABM management to plan dates for first contract negotiations.

While in Kansas City for National Automobile Transporters Joint Arbitration Committee hearings, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division Avral Thompson joined Assistant Director Jeff Brylski, and Teamsters Local 41 Principal Officer Joe Monslow alongside Business Agents Kris Taylor, Jason Cooper, and Mark Malicoat, for an early-morning visit to the newly established Cassens Transport terminal in Fairfax, Kansas.

The visit followed the Teamsters’ recent victory organizing 10 Hansen Adkins drivers, an effort that has resulted into 30 Cassens carhaul jobs today and the potential for more.

“This victory means a lot to the drivers here in Fairfax because it brings us back under Teamsters standards and into the Central States benefit plans,” said Bret Rust, steward at the Cassens terminal in Fairfax and a member of Local 41. “It sends a clear message that carhaulers can organize, fight for strong union jobs, and win. With these jobs back under the national carhaul agreement, the future is looking brighter in Fairfax.”

ATTENTION UPS WORLDPORT TARC RIDERS

Local 89 has been notified that the TARC route network will be undergoing changes effective Sunday, August 2nd, 2026.

UPS Worldport will continue to be connected to UofL, JCTC and West Louisville by TARC Routes 93 and 99. UPS employees will still be able to ride these specific routes at no cost so long as they have a valid UPS ID badge. The times for many routes are also changing, so please be sure to check TARC’s new route schedule and adjust accordingly to arrive on time for your shift.
