Silver Creek Street Lamps
An email is being circulated to those residents who have submitted their email addresses to the Silver Creek HOA. That email will have any attachments referenced below.
As many of you are aware, Silver Creek employs an off-duty police officer to patrol our subdivision a number of hours each week on a random schedule. When the recent security concerns were raised, we asked if there was an observation or suggestion that should be considered to improve security. The response that our current lighting is substandard prompted a request for assistance from LG&E. The Silver Creek HOA has begun making arrangements to upgrade all of the street lights within the neighborhood from the existing dull HPS (High Pressure Sodium) bulbs to more modern LED lights. This is a multi-stage LG&E project that will take place over a month or so during the course of the winter. In order to proceed with the upgrades, we had to agree to LG&E’s terms for converting the lights from HPS to LED. LG&E charges a non-negotiable (5) year conversion fee per light. Please review the attached document received from LG&E that would help answer a few questions you may have regarding the project. (Please reference email and attachment for financial breakdown and FAQ's)
We have opted to begin this conversion slowly by converting 7 lamps throughout the neighborhood before we sign off on the remaining 20. This would allow everyone an opportunity to see the impact of the new LED’s lamps in their area and compare them to our existing lamps.
We will begin the conversion with the 7 lamps in these locations:
(2) at Subdivision entrance off Hwy 22
(1) corner of Silver Wing and Hite Creek
(1) select location along Hite Creek
(1) corner Silverton and Hite Creek
(1) corner Biles Ct and Hite Creek
(1) corner of Silver Run Way and Silverton
I would like to reiterate that we had no control over the cost of this lighting project. We were reminded by the LG&E contractor that the conversion rate was established by the Public Utility Commission. Due to the flat rates set by the LG&E contract, it left us with a pretty basic question of “Do we do the upgrades or not?” The concern for taking reasonable steps to improve security prevailed over the expense of this conversion.
