Today, Leigh Ann Yost begins her sixth year as Executive Director of ChooseWell Communities. 💚

Over the past five years, ChooseWell has grown, changed, tried new things, learned some hard lessons, celebrated a whole lot of wins, and stayed focused on what matters most: people, families, and recovery.

Leigh Ann remains fiercely committed to the people ChooseWell serves and to the belief that families can heal, people can recover, and systems can do better.

There’s still plenty of work to do — and plenty to be excited about.

ChooseWell Communities is in Owensboro at the KYOAAC Symposium! 💙

We’re spending time learning about the incredible work happening across Kentucky through opioid abatement funding — hearing from organizations putting these dollars to work in meaningful ways for individuals, families, and communities.

And one of our favorite parts? They’re learning about us, too. 🙌

We’re proud to share how ChooseWell is using abatement funding to invest in parents in recovery, strengthen families, build recovery capital, and create real pathways to long-term stability.

It’s powerful to be in a room full of people who understand that recovery is about so much more than stopping substance use.

It’s about rebuilding lives. Strengthening families. Creating opportunity. And connection.

Because we’ll say it every chance we get:

Two years of Stephen at ChooseWell! 💚

Today we’re celebrating Stephen’s 2-year anniversary with ChooseWell Communities — and honestly, we can’t imagine KYnship without him.

Stephen leads our workforce development program, KYnship, with a combination of kindness, compassion, belonging and an unwavering belief in growth. He has a way of seeing potential in people — sometimes before they can see it in themselves — and then creating the space for them to discover it.

His dedication to ChooseWell over the last two years has been unparalleled. He shows up for our participants, our families, our team and our mission with his whole heart. He celebrates the wins, walks through the hard stuff, and understands that workforce development is about so much more than a job.

It’s about confidence.
It’s about connection.
It’s about recovery capital.
It’s about discovering what you’re capable of — and having someone in your corner while you do it.

And if you’ve ever watched Stephen with a participant, you know exactly what we mean. ❤️

Happy 2 years, Stephen! We are incredibly grateful that you chose us — and even more grateful for everything you bring to KYnship and to the people we serve.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a house feel like home. 💚

This week, a ChooseWell family proudly showed us their very first houseplant. Ever.

Not just a plant. A little piece of home.

A sign that this space is theirs. That they’re putting down roots. That they get to choose something beautiful simply because it makes them happy.

And the pride on their face as they showed it to us? That’s the part we won’t forget.

Because family preservation isn’t only about the big milestones. Sometimes it looks like a lease. A key. A child’s book on a shelf. A picture on the wall.

And sometimes… it’s a bright green plant riding home in the car. 🌱

This is what building a home looks like.
And we are so proud to be alongside them for every little thing. 💚
