We recognize that many in our community have understandable fears and concerns when it comes to law enforcement. That’s exactly why we felt it was crucial to be part of the solution as part of our mission is to create safe spaces for young people.

Project B.L.U.E. (Building Leadership, Unity, and Engagement) is a youth leadership and community engagement initiative designed to strengthen relationships between young people and law enforcement through positive experiences, mentorship, and skill-building activities. In partnership with the Louisville Metro Police Department PAL Program and JCPS Police, Project B.L.U.E. provides youth ages 11–18 opportunities to develop leadership, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills while building trust, mutual respect, and community connections.

By working hand-in-hand with LMPD PAL and JCPS Police through Project B.L.U.E., we aim to create safe, interactive, positive experiences where youth and officers build trust, leadership, and understanding together. We want families to see that this isn’t just about police but it’s about fostering community, healing, and ensuring our kids have mentors all over the community who genuinely support them!

We invite our C.H.O.I.C.E. families and other young people to join us in building these bridges and helping our youth lead with confidence.

"And when I get older, I want to make a shop and do people's hair. And make my own business"

While Iroquois HS visited Perry Elementary, one of the mentees was inspired about her future. Her mentor encouraged her as she tried mastering this brading technique for the first time.

Thank you for guiding and inspiring her!

This week at Perry, Dixie, and Watterson Elementary, our mentors led powerful sessions! Building on our "social media vs real life discussions, mentors helped their mentees boost self-esteem and confidence through hands-on lessons in hair care and makeup application.

Meanwhile, the young men taught teamwork and responsibility through active sports. Together, they’re building confidence, trust, and leadership one mentoring moment at a time!

We love celebrating our participants’ cultures, accomplishments, and personal journeys.

At C.H.O.I.C.E., we aim to encourage academic motivation, leadership, and resilience. Take a look at how Spectrum highlighted several of our “Dare to Dream” mentors and their inspiring journeys.

Fern Creek High School seniors earned millions in scholarships, and we are proud of our Dare to Dream participants who contributed to this amazing accomplishment.

Seeing our high school mentors’ dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and their future is a powerful reminder of their resilience. They are achieving more than awards. They are showing what is possible when young people are supported, encouraged, and given room to dream.

Quotes from C.H.O.I.C.E. participants:

"I never thought I would be in a place where I have a full ride," Adam Laatabi

"It has allowed me to go to college. Without this money, I would have not been able to. It’s a dream. I never thought that this will happen," Aliete Medina said.

Seven JCPS high school seniors are being honored after each earned more than $1 million in scholarships.

Confidence starts here.
Mentors trained. Matches made. Dreams activated. ✨This Mentoring Experience was all about introductions.

Mentors and mentees worked together on how to speak about themselves with pride, confidence, and purpose. We created space for youth to embrace all of who they are, recognizing that our differences are not barriers, but strengths.

At C.H.O.I.C.E., we are intentional:
We TRAIN our Mentors
We MATCH our Mentors
We TEACH all participants how to DARE TO DREAM

Over the past month, our high school mentors, many of them student athletes, have completed training to prepare for meaningful mentorship. Now, they are officially matched with their elementary mentees for the school year, building relationships that inspire growth, leadership, and connection.

Currently serving:
Fern Creek High School
Iroquois High School
Watterson Elementary
Dixie Elementary
Perry Elementary

This is where confidence begins.
This is where purpose is built.
Stay tuned for our next visit. 💫
