Neighborhood House is a whole-family community center located in Louisville’s west end. Together with our members, we connect to one another and to resources, break down barriers, advocate for change, and invest in futures.

Our youth love a science lesson!

We’re proud to partner with Jerald Henry Smith to provide our kiddos with programming around science projects and experiments. We strive to share many different career approaches when answering the question, “what do I want to be when I grow up?”

Well if it’s a lab technician or a scientist , S.T.E.A.M. has got you covered.

We had some amazing help at Neighborhood House this week! From preparing our food pantry for a new month, to restructuring the front of our building, and to tackling some Fall cleaning! Thank you to these big groups for reaching out and helping keep our center as beautiful and as functional as it can be.

Last week school was out, but Fall Break was in session here at Neighborhood House! Our kiddos had a time relaxing, playing some educational games, giving back to the community, and ripping and running at the Playport! We’re sad (for them lol) that it’s over, but we all enjoyed it while it lasted.

Our Pathways program at Neighborhood House is throwing a Kickoff for young people ages 16–24 on Saturday, October 3rd from 3-5 PM!

There will be DJs, food, prizes, and community partners, plus plenty of time to hang out and have fun during a glow party. It’s also a chance to learn about Pathways, our program for young adults ages 16-24 that helps build life skills, leadership skills, and positive peer networks. New and fun experiences are also included free of charge!

So grab a friend, put on something that glows, and come spend the afternoon with us and the LIVING ROOM DJs, DeepSea and DropShawn.

And please spread the word! Know someone ages 16–24 who should be there? Invite them!

After 23 years at Neighborhood House, our Child Development Center director, Melinda Dennis, is retiring. Melinda started here as a preschool teacher and has spent more than two decades helping children learn, grow, and get ready for what comes next.

Melinda has given so much to Neighborhood House, and we’re incredibly grateful for the care and dedication she has brought to our youngest learners and their families. We’re going to miss her!

We’re excited to welcome Tamara Watkins as our new CDC director. Tamara has been part of the Neighborhood House family for many years as the CDC’s assistant director, working alongside Melinda and helping lead the center day to day. She knows our children, families, and staff well, and we’re thrilled to have her step into this new role.

Thank you, LG&E and KU volunteers!

We are grateful to the 14 LG&E and KU employees who spent their annual Day of Caring at Neighborhood House. Across three shifts, they jumped in wherever they were needed, from mulching flower beds and power washing our vans, to serving dinner at Neighbor Nite.

We’re powered by people, and these are the kinds of projects that make a real difference, even when they happen behind the scenes. Our volunteers help us keep Neighborhood House clean, welcoming, and safe for the people who count on us.

Thank you, LG&E and KU, for showing up for Neighborhood House and the neighbors who walk through our doors.

September Neighbor Nite is in the books!

We want to thank you all for coming to hang out with us. We had some extra goodies this month and a nice raffle to give away so thank you for coming to claim some T-Shirts, stuffed animals, shoes, winter accessories and tomatoes!
