Joanne Katzman "I Believe in You" Scholarship Fund Joanne helped kids in schools for over 32 yrs. This Scholarship fund was established to try and continue the work Jo did.

Joanne passed away in 2012 after a 7 year fight with Cancer. Prior to that she taught Special Education at Ballard and Westport for over 32 years. During her time, Joanne didn't just help her Special Education kids but she worked with any student that needed a little boost or a hug. Often these kids were having difficult times at home and Jo was a soft place to land. She would not only help with t

heir school work but more often than not she was just a person that truly cared about each child. I don't believe she ever thought that any kid "wasn't worth trying to save"!! She saw some good in everyone; She made a huge difference in so many of these students lives!! In a small way we are trying to continue her work by awarding scholarships each year to the type of kid that she would have worked with. The student who overcame incredible odds to stay on the right track!!
